    Good news and bad news

I'm very sorry about Gumdrop, but your vet is right, surgery isn't always the option. Good news for Phil, that's a very good price too!

    Questions about my hairless babies!

They have less fur than most rats, but even so, nipples would definitely be visible. 6 weeks sounds about right to me. They are very cute now that I can see the face haha!

    What color is this?

Yeah, shades of colors can vary wildly. I hope someone can adopt him.

How can I get doxycycline into my boys??

I agree with the other suggestions (I use rice baby cereal, banana or unsweetened apple sauce, and rice milk) but honestly when they are sick and it is give them their medicine in sugar or not get their medicine in them, I choose sugar. I had a rat who would only take meds in chocolate...

    What color is this?

I agree about the pearl. As far as the darker muzzle, it looks like a very minor coloration difference, which can happen on any color rat. He's very cute.

    Questions about my hairless babies!

Can you look for nipples. Should be easy to find on a hairless!

    What pattern is my rat?

A pedigree is the only way to ever really know (and even then it is iffy). Not all genetically hairless are completely hairless and some double rex have almost no fur. Anyway, he is very cute!

Need to get another cage mate, need advice

I'll second the breeder red flags list. Sadly there are very few ethical breeders, especially in Canada. If you keep an eye out, you should eventually be able to find some being rehomed. I may have missed it (if I did, sorry) but why can't this guy be neutered to live with the girls...

Hope's Rescued rats, adoptables and lifers- December Update

That's awesome about the neuters! My fingers are also crossed for no more pregnancies!

    MRR Annual Raffle

Thanks godmother! Things have been busy for me. I'll do an update in the non-rat section. I got your order, and that is just fine :). That must help a lot, having a US address--shipping to Canada is ridiculous since they upped the postage a couple years ago! Hey temblabamomo! No...

    HELP! Is my rat pregnant??

She looks very pregnant. Rats can mate in the blink of an eye unfortunately. Any chance you can get your males neutered so this can't happen again? As far as rehoming, you may want to contact Rattie Tattie Rescue to see if they can help you or at the very least do a courtesy posting. You...

    MRR Annual Raffle

Thanks! Yes, I was pleasantly surprised by the donations. This is my first year doing the raffle, and I hope it continues the legacy of being such a big success! There are a fair number of prizes that can be shipped to Canada by the way ;). Just look at the bottom of the listing (and I...

    MRR Annual Raffle

Hi everyone--for those that remember me, it has been a while since I have posted here. I haven't been very active on rat forums lately, but will try to be more active :D. Anyway... Yes, it is that time of the year again! Mainely Rat Rescue's Annual Birthday Party Raffle! This is our...

    Pregnant rat advice please?

Pet stores make you return the rats in order to treat them as they legally can't treat them if they don't own them. Years ago with my first rats I ran into this, and chose to bring my babies to the vets on my own instead.

    Pregnant rat advice please?

Why would only one of them possibly be pregnant and not both? Generally, you can weigh them to see steady gains in weight. Their gestation is only 21ish days so you find out quickly. Also, doesn't the petstore have her? If so, they will keep her while she is pregnant and sell her babies :(.

Please help Mocha is making strange noises

Rats will need veterinary care throughout their lives. Vet bills are something you need to be prepared to pay for rats. What will you do if they do get these rats recovered and they get sick again and you have no money?

quarantine rescue rats from a local rescue??

It doesn't seem like it is all that rare to have viruses in Canada anymore... There have been a few on here in just the past year. That's no less than you hear about on American forums. Most cases of it aren't posted about, but it is a very real threat to your rats.

Wow judging by your avatar they are cute. I'd say new home sneezies go away in about a week.
