This is officially the last message of my count down before my date with the Mad Hatter. The movie will start in about 3 hours now. I am leaving work right now, meeting friends and going to the restaurant. I am not going to eat that much since I want to have some popcorn and other delicious junk while watching the movie.

I was looking at the thread and remember being excited when I realized there was 2 months and 1 day before the movie. Back then I thought that was soon, now it seems that was a century ago.

About 3 hours left only before I see the movie for the first time and less than 24 hours before I see it for the second time.

:wow3: I know you'll enjoy it!!

I saw it and wasn't too impressed actually.
The Cheshire Cat was absolutely the best though. I adore him.
The Mad Hatter wasn't bad either, but Johnny Depp always has a knack for stealing the show with his amazing ability to make himself into the characters he plays.

I may see it again, to give it another chance, but in general it was a little....well, it lacked something. I think.
Alice was very bland and Anna Hathaway creeps me out in general, but in this movie she looked very...eww hahah.

I'd give it 6-7/10 I think.

I agree, i wish anne hathaway would stop doing that weird floaty flittery thing with her hand! I thought the queen of hearts was well done.

So I saw the movie twice. I will take a break now until next week.

I missed about 15 minutes of the movie yesterday. There was that idiot who decided to be a trouble maker. He decided to leave his seat and walk each row asking people to excuse him as he was walking in front of them between their seats and the seats of the people sitting in the row before. I didn't really notice there was something wrong after he passed in front of me for the third time. When he wanted to pass for the fourth time, I asked him what he was doing and why. All he would say was: look at the right.

The guy sitting right beside me decided that he was annoyed with the idiot so he yelled at him to leave the f... out of the theatre. The idiot yelled back to look at the right and began to repeat that like a broken record as he was continuing to walk between the rows of seats making the guy beside me yell louder than ever.

People started to react and many people started to yell at the idiot but I noticed that there was no employee in the theatre and that nobody has had the idea to leave the theatre and seek help.

I was sitting in the back row right in the middle but I still decided to get up and seek for help. So I have to disturbed all the people from my row who has already been disturbed at least 10 times. I explained I was going to get some body guards or anybody.

Of course, I didn't see any body guards so I ran in the lobby yelling that there was some violence in the theatre and that there was great chances that it would end up being a big fight.

When I came back in the theatre, the idiot was no longer in there and there was about 5 employees in there. I asked them where the guy was and they told me that he has been escorted out of the theatre. That whole mess last at least 15 minutes. After that, I had difficulty focussing on the movie and unfortunately I didn't enjoy it at all as I had a major asthma attack (stress and me running) who took about another 15 minutes to end. I was too upset after that to really concentrate on the movie. That really sucks.

The forum is acting weird right now and I can't see whay I am typing so I will end my message here and start another one to talk about the movie.

Saturday's movie. Forgot all about it. Too tired this week as I am in another insomniac episode.

I went on Saturday morning, March 6, at 10:45 am.

The theatre decided to celebrate the opening of the movie that Saturday morning. There was some people in costumes of Alice, the Mad Hatter, the White Rabbit and the March Hare in the lobby. There was that beautiful huge cake (very Mad Hatterish cake). I thought that was for a birthday party for some kid who was going to see the movie.

Just before the movie started, this group came in the cinema room with the cake and sang the Unbirthday Song. They told us that we were all here to celebrate the movie and our unbirthdays and that we could all get some of the unbirthday cake after the movie. That was so much better than an idiot yelling in the theatre.

The movie: I saw the whole movie on Saturday. I missed a lot more than I thought I did on the Friday.

Negative:

1 the movie is extremely dark for a Disney movie, too dark. But it's a Tim Burton movie too which explains a lot. So parents taking their children to see a cute little movie will be extremely disapointed. Could be really scary for a child too.

2 posters and other advertising showed very colourful pictures of the movie. We don't see this that much in the movie as it is a dark movie. The background is often dark, dull colours etc. But again, when I watched it on the Saturday, it didn't see as much dull than on Friday night and there are several parts of the movie where we see the beautiful colours.

3 The Mad Hatter didn't mention his unbirthday at all (sob, sob, sob)

I needed to put some negative since nothing in perfect, not even that movie so that's done with the negative.

Have to start a new message because forum is freaking out again.

Positive

The movie is extremely dark. I happen to love dark movies and horror movies, ha ha.

The colours (colourful or dull colours) reflect what and how the characters are feeling. That is very Disney.

The Mad Hatter: great!!! His eyes are about 20% bigger than normal which makes him look creepy at times, vulnerable at other time. I wanted to comfort him like we do with little children. Johnny's facial expression was extremely expressive (what a dull sentence this is). The Mad Hatter didn't seem mad as he is in the cartoon movie. He makes more sense. But there is still some madness especially when he keeps asking Alice is she knows why is a raven like a writing desk.

The Red Queen: great!!! Her head is 3 times bigger than normal. She is simply hilarious for a villain and I think that only Helena could achieve that (watch her in Harry Potter).

Special effects: great!!!

Especially that they have been able to add some cartoonish features to real characters (big eyes for Hatter, big head for the Red Queen, the Tweedle twins really fat).
Some characters are 100% cartoons (cat, caterpillar) combined with real life characters. Apparently it is very difficult for the actors to film as they are often alone on the site while filming.

Cheshire Cat was the most beautiful character to watch. You need to go see the movie to understand this.

Forum is freaking out again.

References to the cartoon. Lots of them.

There are some flashbacks when we see a younger Alice meeting the characters for the first time.

The Mad Hatter asking why is a raven like a writing desk. He does that several times and seems obsessed with this.

The March Hare being the March Hare, yelling or throwing stuff around (in the cartoon, he is a lot more mad and aggressive than the Mad Hatter)

The Red Queen who wants everybody's head off.

The croquet game.

Alice being too tall or too small.

The Mad Hatter singing Twinkle Twinkle little bat...

There are a few more but I forgot. I will have to see the movie again so I can remember...

Yeah, wisely they aren't even marketing the movie for children at all. I notice a lot of merchandise and crap at Hot Topic and Spencer's, which are stores I find geared for tweens and stupid teens. Dare I say it... The Twilight demographic. *ducks and dodges*

I would never dream of letting my six year old watch this. Sad because he enjoys the stories read to him and the original Disney version. Oh well.

IMO That's because he wasn't mad like an unnerving clown, he was literally mad, like, insane, mentally ill...and it's not really funny. I felt so sorry for him, but did laugh with him in the appropriately funny bits - Depp was brilliant at the conflicting personalities thing, loved it!

I saw the movie for the third time today.

To hear the Mad Hatter laugh, go to this link.

A video that I found when we see several scenes with the Mad Hatter. It is short but there are things that have not been shown in the trailors yet. First time ever that I see that one so here it is.

Saw it yesterday with the daughter and nephew...LOVED it!
To be honest I expected it to be dull and typical Burton crap reworked.

I really loved the Mad Hatter and I agree the whole eye thing gave him this look of creepy, yet "here let me hug you sweetie" look.

I was not that impressed with the 3D aspect of the film though *shrugs*

Overall it was fun and I am really glad we went to see it!!!!
