I was just thinking of suggesting a topic like this
Jane (smallvic) just suggested
http://montrealcritters.com/ to me... it looks great. They sell bedding (Carefresh, Yesterdays News, and aspen among others), toys, food (Oxbow, Martin's Little Friends, and Vita +), and some accessories. And they have flat rate shipping ($10) within Canada :joy:

It would be so much easier if they wern't all online stores.
You need a credit card for places like that, and a 19 and 17 year old don't have credit cards.
Montreal Critters has the option to pay using Paypal and I think (although I've never done it) you an pay from your bank account.
I've seen this site on other boards for CN's (I love my CN!)

I like Pet Value franchises. I've never seen any pets for sale, but they often have cats available for adoption from the local HS's free ranging in their stores. They also sell the smaller bags of YN, which I have to get since I don't have a lot of storage room.
Pet Valus are franchises, and from speaking to on owner in the past it's my impression that it's up to them whether or not they sell animals, coordinate with shelters, or only offer supplies. They also decide what they carry, so they may be able to special order something if they don't carry it.
Rescues are great places to get hammocks from if you're not the type to make your own - they're cheaper and better than anything at the pet store and you can get them custom made (sizes, colours, etc.) Chelle's Critter Haven and Henry's Mum both make hammocks, among others.
I got my cage liners and some cubes from
http://hhhammocks.web.officelive.com/default.aspx... not a rescue but nonetheless a responsible pet owner... very happy with them.
For those of you in the UK, Fuzzbutt has amazing products. By far the best cubes I've ever bought. I bought from them before I came on the forum and saw how many people made them in Canada... I would love to buy from her again but the shipping to Canada is as much as the cubes so I'll have to wait until someone visits me from the UK.
