Momma Thumbelina or Momma Thumb is actually a fawn and the babies are 5 days old now I believe.

It is day six already! Can you believe it. The babies are growing so fast and they are so adorable. Lets see I did try to sex them tonight and I believe that we have 5 girls and 2 boys. Mommy and Daddy definitely lean toward the female chromosomes as the last litter had more females then males too. They are starting to move around alot more and it won't be long before they are up and running like crazy babies should.

We will see how good my sexing skills really are and if I am right.

Oh and when I have momma out for short periods just to add food to the cage and to take old bowls out I put her in a travel carrier. Well tonight I had other rats free ranging so it was not her turn out while I played with the babies. So I put her in the travel cage. Well this is what she has been busy doing while in the carrier each time. Tonight she finally made it through...Naughty determined momma rats I swear!

I just found this thread and it reminds me so much what happened to me in December. I also had a surprise after bringing 2 little girls home.

I really enjoyed that experience and I hope you do too. Your babies are really beautiful and I just love the black father.

Awwwww Thanks everyone for the compliments. I honestly don't think my camera is that great. It typically agrivates me more then anything as I fight with the auto focus a lot. But I do have to admit that this time around it is doing its job very well. That is until the babies start moving and squirming and RUNNING!!! Then we might have to switch to video instead LOL

Here are your day 8 photos for your viewing pleasure. I am thinking it is time to come up with some names. I didn't get to name my last litter as they all looked too much alike and there were a bunch of them to name so keeping tract was gonna be nearly impossible. I think I can probably keep everyone seperate with this litter. So I need a theme for the litter. Suggestions? I did individual photos this time one of the top and one of the bottom LOL.
