We had a new intake yesterday. A sweet dbl rex may be nakie girl who was mistaken for a boy because her vaginal opening hangs a little and because she has no hair it looks like a penis. She's estimated about 10-12 weeks old which terrifies me as she was discovered as a female when the males were all over her mounting her :( her vagina was bleeding.
I scooped that baby right up.
She had clear lice and diarrhea as well. So she's been washed and we're off to the vet to see about a dose of revo or what we can do at noon. She's nice and healthy in size thankfully. Not starving. But she's gotten some pumpkin and apple fibre to help firm up those poops. Also had some yogurt for breakfast today.
Have not yet got a name for her but I'm mulling over either Freya or Lagertha (from Vikings) strong women! Aggie for short. That's where I'm leaning toward.
Scariest part is her being too young to have babies and too young for an e-spay. See what the vet thinks today. And we'll do what we believe to be best for her.
She's already super friendly toward me. Just cuddles right into my hand. Wants to be up with me.

Now PICTURES of this sweet face

Vet said we will wait the week and do daily weights. He doesn't want to put her through surgery if she doesn't need it. She is so little!
She's very sweet. My hope is my luck continues whenever I get a possible pregnant girl it never happens so fingers crossed we got her soon enough.

What a beautiful little girl
She is so tiny, I think I'd rather take my chances with a pregnancy than try her under surgery. Fingers and toes crossed for her!

I totally thought about you Sheldon. You'd be a perfect match for her. She's a people rat. Not doing well with playing with the other girls as she's so little. They all pick on her. Poor little lady!

I do call her Aggie. Its just a cute name for a cute rattie girl
She's so kissable

Aww. I just saw this after posting on the other thread. Sorry about your baby boy. Looks like he was spoiled rotten (as it should be) for the majority of his life. Kissies sent his way anyways...

WHAT IS THIS?
I just had this wee boy dropped off I have never seen a penis that looked like this. Its too late for the vet today but I can likely squeeze him in tomorrow. Just want to be sure this isn't an emergency!
His feet and ears are really cold, he's underweight and super hungry. He's eating some homemade protien paste (hummus with extra oomf)

I had 5 rats dropped off tonight. I was planning 2-3 and then they kept coming.
It was a frustrating situation but I at least know they are safe and in a healthy place now. I will post a picture play by play.
First two boys approx a year old Bug and Nugget came in, in this, though the best of the cages it was dirty bedding, no food, no hideout.

Here is Nugget, who is a BIG sweet boy

Here is Bug also a good size (later you will see why) and sweet as well

And just when I thought that was it,
Wee boy (needs a name) came in this, also pine bedding

And then another girl, who needs a name, in this...more pine

She is lovely but not well handled and quite spastic when handled, tried to bite.

The weight might have something to do with them eating whatever this is....guessing at some point there was corn and sunflowers in it too!

I gave them all some rat kibble and a bit of vegetarian dog food for some good wholesome protien. Wee boy and the girls also got a bit of the hummus with lentils and beans. The girls will be under pregnancy watch as I don't trust they were never with the boys. They sort of underhandedly mentioned the silver girl had been growing fast! :S
Wee boy needs to put on a lot of weight. He only weights 75g he seems about 8-12 weeks old. But hard to tell with his tiny frame.

After some rigorous cleaning of the nicer hamster cage. My mouse One-Eye got a fancy upgrade. Its a nice cage, national geographic critter dome for hamsters. Its a sweet mouse condo.

PM'd you with the same info:
Hey, just replied to your post in the quick question thread. The protrusion is called paraphimosis. If his penis gets dried out and swollen, he may become unable to urinate and that is LIFE-threatening.
The penis needs to be lubricated with a water-based lubricant like KY jelly. (NOT Vaseline). Maybe keep him on paper towel so you can make sure he has peed overnight. Offer fresh water - if he is drinking, that is a good sign. He would also benefit from an anti-inflammatory like Metacam (or Ibuprofen if that's not available) to try and reduce the swelling.

Thank you! Again! I believe we got him just in time! Today he's retracted it, its not purple and he has a LOT more energy.
So sad how he looks like a desheveled old rat but when you take into account that's a baby food jar lid he's eating out of you can tell he's a baby.

He's doing quite well. ODIN has taken on being his rat guide/body guard/bff. He's never far from him. Even when I put Wee-boy back in the cage and Porter went right for him (just to sniff likely) but Odin wasn't taking chances and he jumped back in and smacked him like 'Don't even think about it'

Other great news is we are nearing week 3 with Aggie the nakie and its looking good that it was just her good appetite showing not babies! Still not in the clear but my scale broke mid-week lastweek so haven't been able to keep weighing her. Guess it doesn't much matter either we'll end up with wee ones or not.

We have 3 fresh litters of mice born Friday- Saturday sometime. Each of the 5 girls were paired except the first Momma (Lil Momma) who had the 16 babes. Momma #2 &3 (names still TBD) had a combination of approx 20 babies will count them tomorrow or Wednesday when I can go in and clean. Momma #4 (named Daisy Duke for her little brown 'shorts') had 10ish (again will count soon) and Girl #5 (Nan) thankfully either reabsorbed or wasn't pregnant and she is just being a super great help to Daisy laying with the babies and helping her wrangle them. I put Lil Momma's little runt Peanut (smallest baby) with Daisy and she took to him right away throwing him on a nipple and feeding him so hopefully that gives him a fighting chance now. His siblings are all up, eating, drinking from the bottle and VERY busy popping around. He's still eyes closed and very small. We'll separate Lil Momma's boys on Wednesday or Thursday this week as they will be 4 weeks old :)

Little Eepers with Peepers. Pix of the new babies Wednesday likely.
