As others said, rats need around 10% protein which is lower then the level in rat blocks.
That is why it is good to feed a low protein block (15% or 14%) and by feeding a variety of daily vegs and other healthy real nonprocessed foods, their daily protein levels will be lower then the level of protein in their blocks
