Oh no, poor thing!

It is comforting that it's most likely not a tumour, though... good luck on friday.

Olive looks much worse today so I have an appointment with Dr. Luckwaldt at 6pm.
I would much rather have Dr. Munn as he knows her etc.
Olive has porphyrin leaking out her eye sockets and nose.
She really stinks as well. :sick2:
I'm afraid she might be beyond saving by Friday afternoon. :sad3:
She's not coming out when I call her and she's lethargic.
Not at all like her normal self.
I will let you know what happens.
Thanks everyone fo your help. :hugs:

good luck to your lass!!!!

Just back from the vet.
Dr. Luckwaldt thinks it's a abscess and has prescribed Clavamox.
Olive was dehydrated and given sub Q fluids.
She weighs 266 grams down from 304.
Not too bad but she does need fattening up.
I will take her back in 10 days or sooner if she gets worse.
Olive HATES her meds but hey that's nothing new.
Nubbies had debris removed from his eye and is in otherwise good shape. :joy:
I'm glad to have a diagnosis and hopefully soon she will be back to her zippy, zappy self.
Thanx for your help everyone. :hugs:

That is good to hear. I will keep my fingers crossed for a fast healing for the sweet girl.

So is Olive scheduled to return for an extraction? Antibiotics are great at beating down the infection, but the cause of the infection needs to be addressed.

Dr. Luckwaldt is hoping the meds do the trick.
He is conferring with Dr. Munn tomorrow.
I wish Dr. Munn could have seen her tho.
I too would rather have it extracted because it will keep getting infected.

Well, at least it could have been much worse if it had been a tumour!

Here's all fingers crossed for your very sweet (or would that be salty?) Olive!

I am SO thankful it wasn't a tumor. :joy:
She's a salty girl with a touch of sweet thrown in. :giggle:
A real blighter to give meds to tho.
She always keeps me entertained.
Thanx M0onkist :cuddle:

The fighting can't be a truly bad thing, it means she has life in her yet - I remember when Cera had a tooth abscess, she was an absolute BEAR to force meds into. I wound up watching Shelagh's video probably a hundred times, at least twice before each dosing.

And as for sweet or salty, I only ever like my olives salty, lol

Shelagh came over and we practiced....ALOT.
I'm afraid of hurting her face and she knows it.
Olive is spunky and cheeky.
She makes me smile with her antics.
I have never had a rattie like her she's definitely one of a kind.

is Olive responding yet? Is she still salty or back to really not feeling well?

She is gaining weight and the abscess hasn't grown. :joy:
She is acting more like herself but not quite there yet.
Olive hates her meds and I'm afraid of popping the abscess so I give it to her with pudding and she licks it off my finger.
Have you had experience with the abscess coming back?
I hope there's no surgery coming my way.
Olive is one expensive girlie but I will pay anything to make her well.
 I  her so much.
Thanx Shelagh. :hugs:

Cera's 'tooth' abscess didn't come back - it actually migrated to the outside of her face from inside her mouth, and popped out between her whiskers.

Here's the story (and photos) for reference:

I think a lot of it is dependent on the abscess draining and any vestige of pus being cleaned out, so a pocket of infection doesn't stay - of course, that depends a lot on where the abscess is located, sometimes it's just too hard to get a good cleaning in - then, you just have to use abs and hope for the best...

I'm SO glad she's gaining weight too - best sign ever!

I forgot how cute Cera is. :thud:
That sweet face.
Here's hoping Olive gets rid of this abscess and it doesn't come back.
