Hope's Rescued rats, adoptables and lifers- December Update

So many hooded babies!! Beautiful little ones though Something I have been wondering for awhile now...are each marking unique to each rat (hooded rats specifically)? Have you ever run into two hooded rats with the same markings?

The babies are 4 days old. Here are marking pictures just for RatPack.

except he has hair... LOL so he isnt a naked all standard ears look that way if you shave them he is probablya patchwork and a total prick too. Not a nice boy at all. I cant wait to get them neutered.....all 5 are jerkfaces.

He still looks like he was meant to be a nakie. Shave him and let him be the ratman he's meant to be and perhaps he'll be less of a jerkface.

He is a rex but I think more of a patchwork so he wiill always have fur. He was so starved when he came here it is just like remy who was almost naked but got most of his fur back. We will know in a few weeks, they usually go through thngs when htey lose their fur and it comes back different buthe has so much fur I dont know that he is a patchwork. He has "thinning" fur right nwo LOL maybe he has a losin my hair complex that men get when they start to bald?

Here is our life today. The virus has died down. Only the very sick ones are on meds and anyone still sneezing.

Abraham is having eye issues.

One of the girls from momma's oldest litter is not thriving as her sibling are. She is only 64g and losing weight fast. I am monitoring her like crazy and giving them supplements to try to help her. Her name is Tanvi which means gentle girl. She is such a dainty girl and will give you kisses on your lips when you put them by her. She is a hand licker and just a very sweet soul. She reminds me so much of my maisey. I dont know if she will make it but I am trying to save her at this point. Keep her in your thoughts.

her feet are very pale and that is the only thing I have to go on..

the other babies are 5 days old. Momma was so puffy today. Generally when I take her out, i put her in a cage, then i let her run around once we finish manhandling the babies. Today I took the babies out and let her run on the chair, leaving her cage there on the couch. You could tell she DID NOT like that her babies were not to be found. She was running around all puffy and hectic in and out of the cage. I put the babies back and moved the cage and momma was fine after that.

The girls figured out the hammocks and they love them!

Timmy is 253g now. He is such a great fella to. He has started popcorning now which was new in the last 2 weeks. I kept trying to play with him and he wanted no part of it.

The baby boys are 150g in about 2 weeks I will intro timmy to the 4 baby boys so he will finally have buddies.

That is about all I have right now. I am on day 8 of my 14 day work week(s). I am exhausted. 14 days in a row after that virus and we are getting hammered with snow we got 20.9 inches since sunday. Not a fun time in my life at all. Since I work 45 minutes away my commute to work has been 1.5 hours to 2 hours each way since. On top of 10 hour work days. I think I run on fumes most of my days. I have been going to bed at 730pm and getting up at 2am. I am ready to sleep in a bit for real. I am beyond exhausted right now.

I'm so sorry Tanvi is doing poorly. It's a bad sign when babies lose weight. You think she has a heart defect?
Timmy looks great! I'm happy he will finally be getting buddies. I hope he still remembers how to be a rat after all this time recovering.
It must be difficult to be sleep deprived and not have enough time to catch up. I hope you catch a break!

And Mama Mary is such a bad-ass mother. She has gone through so much. I hope little Tanvi pulls through.
I hear you on the snow and the work. It sucks. Hang in there, it's all you can do. Eventually you just go into a robot mode when you are overworked. I hope you can get some well deserved rest soon. I will mail you some brownies haha I am told they fix many problems.
They may be brownie-sicles when they arrive though :|

I am sending all of my best wishes and healing thoughts to your sweet girl Tanvi. I could tell by reading about her and her photo that she is such a sweet soul and so loving. I want so badly for her to make it and stick around for a long time. Please hang in there Tanvi and get better, okay?

I am getting damn good at sexing babies Thanks to momma and her baby making machine uterus.

We have 4 boys

and 5 baby girls

The other litter had 4 boys and 7 girls. We have a lot of babies

We lost our old man rat Brain. This boy was a riot. He always looked dead and I told if he did die I might not notice because of how he always looked dead when he was sleeping. He would wake up biting, he was wanting food not to eat me, he nailed me pretty good the day before he passed. He was taken by old age and not virus related at all. This scraggly little man-rat never even got sick.

He would eat so much he would get a belly ache.

He had this month ago and was neutered because of it. He also had a tumor removed. He had HED so bad but would totally truck it when food was involved. I found him hanging from the ramp, so he couldnt free himself so instead of screaming and making noise, he took a nap LOL He didnt get hurt and I put covers on the ramps after that but he was something else just always into something.

we have had them since may of 2013, so he was a very old man. He came in with PInky who we lost along time ago.

Play hard baby boy. You can run free now with working legs and eat all you can fit in your belly.

He is a mismarked bareback boy. Just like Daddy There is two boys like him. They may get more markings later it seems their markings grow a bit as they do. Little chunks.
