I am tired of thread searching so I think I will try to stick to one thread.

I have 14 girls and 2 boys in a group. Feeder momma and her remaining babies, some of which Velo has. 4 girls dropped off at an over night box in a shelter and 2 that were surrendered because their owner loved them so much and they had to give them up. Rj and Dirk recently moved in he is the bugger that reopened his neuter 3 times. He is all healed up and living with a ton of girls. I think he is happy now :) These boys are also the ones who came in starved half to death just skin and bones no fat on their bodies. How far they have came.

This is just one group. I have a few in another group that need homes and boys that need neuters when I get the funds up. And tumors we are being hit hard with tumors right not I am trying to get the funds up with the tshirt sales and anything else I can to get them removed. I just simply dont have it after how this last month has been.

You tube will not let me update my video, it keeps failing so I had to place it on fb. I tested it in another browser so you can view it with out a fb account. I have to constantly work on the girls with socializing skills they hate to be picked up. Momma is a biter in the cage and a nipper of my hand out of it. They are coming along though. We have 2 girls in foster I wanted to test and see if they would be better in a small group with one person than in my care with a bakers dozen LOL

My roly poly bubs are starting to look rough. We are constantly battling mites with them which is beyond me they are on vet bedding and only litter in their box. Nothing more. It seems they are so likely to get them it isnt funny. They have moved downstairs with me, I have to watch hopper. His color is horrible. His ears and limbs are pale. His belly is full of hard spots he is able to poo but he is just slowing down. My heart is just broken with this.

Hope,
Tembla put it perfectly...I have to ditto that response!

Just melted my heart seeing these sweet little babies, so deserving of some happiness and comfort, which they are obviously getting.

This WAS a heart melter, for sure! I just loved those photos of the kids licking nums off your finger...they are so precious.

Lily and Hopper laying together...oh my goodness, just so sweet. Thanks for sharing these photos. And..give all my love to your bubs..I hope they get lots of time to be happy; they so deserve it. :cheerful:

I am going to do this on one thread but I keep forgetting and making new!
Maisey, Happy, Turbo and Sweetie came to us as surrenders. Happy had stomach issues I think with her bowels, so she went to my local rat buddy Shannan just today. Shannan took hippo and some girls from us last year. She can watch her more closely than I can with so many rats here I just feel better with her being in a home where there are only 4 other rats :) Maisey the black dumbo has a intestinal tumor but is doing well other wise. Cashew and Cooper live with them as well. Gloria was our PT girl who managed to live 3 extra months till we lost her last week.

Rj and Dirk came in with Remy starved and in the worse shape ever.
Their story is here..
http://www.ratshackforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=28201&highlight=remy

Remy passed away a few weeks back but he had a good life till the end. He was loved by us and our oldies cuddled him daily :)

Rj and Dirk had to be neutered but that meant they could have girlfriends :) So I blessed them with girls, 14 to be exact. We had adoptions lately, 2 girls to grand rapids, 2 girls to just outside of chicago and 2 boys to westville IN. Then we took in 4 girls in a disgusting cage.

Their story is here
http://www.ratshackforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=30564

So that group will be back up to 16 with the intros of those 4 girls.

So lets meet that group.

Rj and Dirk are happy boys now, the girls are coming along slowly but it is a never ending job but we keep trying to socialize them. It is easier with picking them up some days but not always LOL

We have had some losses and so on. We have tumors to remove, we have oldies who will be leaving us. Boys with heart problems and so on.

Here is our main rat room...

Life is just busy for us as usual. Tomorrow is cage cleaning day so it will be a fun time :)

Such beautiful kids you have...sigh...LOVE the photos of your darlings! You are such a super Rat Mom! Give them all my love! :love6:

Awwwww Claire!!!!!
Love how you put their names up next to them. lol
Do you know why I did that? LOL for the sole purpose of having something to go back to for reference so I can learn the names I gave them :) I thought Claire was fitting for her she is a stunning girl.

Wow, you must be so organized to keep everyone healthy and happy and clean!

Far from it :) I have rats meds in my kitchen, cages and blankets in my dining room, cages of more rats in my living room, empty cages in the garage, front porch, side porch and basement. I try to clean their cages every few days but it goes to usually once a week upstairs sometimes twice depending on the time. We start medicating them when we see signs of being off. It is far better than where they came from for all of them. They all have clean cages, hammocks and enough room to be happy in.

Sounds like you're doing some really amazing work Hopefloats.
We have adopted out about 34 small animals since getting on petfinder this year. We adopted out a lot in the last month. well about 8 of them I think. We are filling up wisconsin, michigan, Illinois and ohio with Rescued rat adoptions rats.

I was on craiglist looking for a cage, yeah I know like i need more and I found an ad, free rats, I thought it was 4 in a tank. but it was actually 5. Daddy, two young sons and 2 young daughters. I believe I will have to set up spays for friday or monday at the latest. I will be taking more pictures tomorrow. All are underweight and poor daddy began choking he was eating so fast. No food was seen in their 10 gallon tank. Not a good home at all. After speaking to them I knew they were in trouble so we have 5 new faces two of which I will probably have to spay.

It will only let me upload one at a time on my ipad. Not sure why that is.

This is the baby girl. Very small I think about 8 weeks old but lived with brothers and dad. Hoping they are not pregnant :( I will be making a vet appt for tomorrow probably. It is a mess here right now with sick rats, we have a few related boy with heart problems, one pt girl, 3 with tumors, a cage of seniors with hed or other problems and then we have these two girls but I knew leaving them was a bad idea, he said mom died 2 weeks ago she couldnt move one side :( after that, I hoped in my car and drove the hour to get them.

I have another girl with issues right now, Ursula is doing some odd rearing up thing. we still have to remove tumors as well August will be a costly month for sure.

I believe we may have 2 pregnant 8 to 10 week old rats on our hands.

Ursula is going in to be check I found her doing this last night and I am stunned. I believe her mouth is a bit swollen.
[ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h3ksh8qR3LQ[/ame]

Keep us in your thoughts today and remember donations are never refused. We didnt expect these two possible spays.

Geez, more ratties in need. It looks like the babies may be too far along to spay - is there a time limit for your vet? They absolutely needed to come to your place. Could you imagine them having two litters of babies in the cage with the three boys?!
Ursula does look like she's got a swollen face. A bad tooth I wonder?

From what I can see that is what Throttle's face looked like too, but his extented down under his chin. Poor little girls ... I really hope to get a prego one day...glad you got them, that is kind of how I felt when I saw the condition the Boris boys were in.

That is why we have an appt today. i am terrified for such small girls to deliver. I want my vets office to gander at them.

Gosh I really hope they can take care of those girls. I started getting a little emotional reading your description of the dad eating. Just awful. I'm sure it will take some time before he relaxes knowing he won't be starved and abused.

Urusula has a suspected tooth abscess. So we are treating that, if we do not see improvement soon then we will have to have her sedated and her teeth examined.

Both baby girls do not feel pregnant. I am weighing them right now and will decide next week if we will spay or press our luck :) I have tumors that need to be removed so I am debating on when to set this up. I hate to have them spayed to find out they were not pregnant. So I will monitor it over the weekend. today the girls were 128g and 112g

We have had babies done this young. We dont use injection meds we only use Iso and then we control the pain after. I banned the buprenorphine meds a long time ago. That I think is the biggest threat in rats not surviving surgeries.

So far they are not pregnant but I am unsure if that will be the case next week.

Daddy weights 339g, and the boys weight 172 and 139g. Way to small for them all so they got some extra pasta for dinner :)
