For such an insanely major surgery, he looks really good. I'm sure it will take some adjusting but you will both cope. *HUG*

I think it looks worse to us than it is for him. Or at least that is how Cooper is looking in the pics, I know it is major surgery but he just looks soo happy in these pics!!!!

He is a happy boy and once the bruising and the swelling is gone and his incision is healed nothing will keep him down...I bet he will even be swimming next summer. This guy thinks life is spelt PARTY

Cooper normal goes to work with my husband everyday.....but of course hasn't since his surgery. He hasn't even wanted to. But this morning :happydance: when my husband got ready to leave Cooper went to the door and the look on his face was "okay I am ready to go back to work" Hubby was so pleased he took him for a short drive to Tim Hortons for a Tim Bit before bringing him back home to spend the day with me. He can't go back to work until his staples are out...but what a boy ,ready for for work a week after major surgery!! :happydance:

We had a bit of a rough day on Friday.....Cooper would look at me with the saddest eyes. So full of uncertainty...it was heartbreaking. But I didn't let him see how sad I was....
Easier for a cat to lose a limb emotionally I'm sure, they just have themselves to account to, but as dogs judge their own value by their value to their pack, I'd think he's just feeling a little guilty at not being up to full speed for you. I think if you are quick to give him effusive praise (as I'm sure you are doing anyway) for everything he does he will start to feel that he is truly still capable of looking after you who he loves..
Maybe play a game of you hide in the closet and call to him and when he finds you you get all excited and give him a treat. It'll help make his abilities override his disabilities in his mind while he adjusts.

Today is day 11 and we decided to take Cooper for a run. He really enjoyed it. He is adapting so well and so fast. He is an amazing dog.

Very eager to get going!

Thought I would let everyone know how Cooper is doing. He is simply amazing. It is like nothing has ever happened. He is 100% back to his normal self. Does everything he used to do with the same enthusiasm.
