He gets done on the 29th so I guess I will see then. I was just hoping to get a jump start, but I think i will do small meetings in a place that doesn't freak him out so bad and continue with switching cages and letting these two out on the common areas so they can sniff the other smells there. Until i can see how he attitude is with the neuter.
 
So I was thinking. I did another mini intro tonight, same thing as last time. well it wasnt a mini it was with the whole group of boys. I was watching Mr. Lefty and he is constantly trying to get to the girl/boy cage. Which only has 4 boys, one happens to be Templeton who has been known to be a menace.

I know Templeton accepted the black trio in, it was the 3 hairless he didnt take in. Those are the 3 he manhandled the entire time.

With the other boys Horatio is fine, sniffs isnt rude, has manners. Mr lefty is a bundle of nerves.

So he meet with the other group tonight. Not for long.

Templeton sniffed but that was it, even after he got humped twice by Mr. Lefty. the difference is Mr. Lefty sniffed everyone and didnt show any fear like he does with the 8 boys. he is probably so distracted by 7 girls that he hardly seen the boys were actually boys.

I think i will stick with this since he seems more comfortable with this group. I will know once the humping phase is over but i know how these 4 guys act, and the girls who even pika was fine with them.
 
that is what I figured. I know Templeton did it for a few days too. I am just waiting for that to stop to see how it really goes. Either way Monday he will be neutered. It was a lot smoother with this group than the other. Even my pain in the butt girls, are generally more submissive to males. it is just the 4 and 2 boys i have to worry about.

Hoping it works. I guess I had to figure out what group they belong in LOL
 
It is great for them lol. I will have some cage moving to do but I want less groups. It is easier for me to manage and they more out time when it is split up. I didn't want to add to their group since. They are my oldest ones but guess it is their choice not mine.



Joanne it. is reassuring to see I wondered with his testicle being up by his thigh that he is not affected at all lol

I hope it works I would love to see them with a happy colony than just two each. It is also odd for out time.....I am not used to just two rats being out lol
 
Today is move in day for the babies with dopeys group!

I would say shortly after this we moved to common ground with no cage. I did put the cage in the mix a few times and the babies just scream :emb:

They are moved into with the boys today. I have seen the babies just hiding in the cage and not much else. Romeo makes dopey look like a quiet rat! He screams if a boy comes within a foot of him LOL

I know i shouldnt laugh but i never met a screaming baby. My little lover, totally not a fighter.
A few of them are scared. I did see one of my boys get them, but he was good about it, nice big boy way not jerky templeton way. I just let it go.

I have the cage pulled up now, I had to removed all the babies from the cage to get them out, but they are at least running in and out a bit now.

His eye is fine, my phone has an led light for a flash and it is horrible on giving rats funky eyes.

This is the prefered hammock and section of the cage, The level above has a food bowl but they dont venture up there much. I put a bowl down by them, they were a bit hungry LOL

These guys were fine with dopey being there, but romeo jumped up there and my god. I thought he was being killed. All because dopey was sleeping in his hammock. Dopey slept right through it. He did it to edgar too the biggest boy, edgar looked at him, sniffed him and walked away.

I am glad these boys are so good.... they really dont care about the babies and they ignore their screaming rather than attacking them.
 
Awwww! big boys with little boys, that is so adorable. That's too funny that Dopey and Edgar are totally unresponsive to the screaming. They make good uncles.
 
Now I am torn where to put the two boys. Since mr wimpy was neutered, and the hairless guy does ok with the group i am debating where to have them call home.

These two have the same energy as the big group, he seems to like the girl group more. Now that templeton is done I am sure he may be more accepting. they could bring some needed youth to the other group.

Boy that Romeo is one scared boy. Is he like that with just the older rats or also scared of the younger ones?
 
Nope he was pretty much put right in with the babies. never even met the big boys till the intro's started. He has been a screamer since day one. Lear is too. in fact the 4 beige/fawn boys are the scared ones.

my boys dont mess with him lol i dont get what his deal is. Flynn will chase him around when he screams but they just try to pin them nothing more. He dont even bite at him.

It makes me laugh, i know it is mean but I remember during intro's with Templeton dopey jumped from the top shelf of the fn to my shoulder screaming. LOL the only time that boy has ever wanted on me willing...........
 
I love my cage, have I said that before? I blocked off the bottom two sections for the babies, dopey and finley tonight as my testers. It is probably just to much to fast for them. I will open it up during the day but close it at night. That has worked well for me in the past with babies so I will do it again. I think babies need to build up confidence it seems so they are a bit unsure right now.

There is all of them the fn looks kinda small, and the little one has the 2 boys in it for now till they get in the group

I keep the big cage where it is , but I put the fn on the other side of the room.

I love it though, even in it large capacity. I keep thinking about what i can do. It would probably work great splitting levels off if any get HED it is longer than most and i have options to hang stuff to make it work

Today the babies were a bit more playful outside of the cage so that is a plus. 3 or 4 of them could care less, they will run all over that cage. I am still impressed with how my boys do not bite them, they know the power of their chubby butts so they keep use it to pin them.

I am sure most of it just new group jitters so it will work out in a few days then the real fun begins with a group of 17!
