    Bundle of cuteness:)

I have great homes lined up for most of the babies (12). I'm still looking for homes for 6 of them. It does help knowing they are going to good homes, especially since truthfully, it's hard for me to spend the much needed time with all of them. They'll get lots of love and attention in their new...

    Bundle of cuteness:)

These babies are all so cute. They're going to new homes soon and it's going to be so very hard to part with them. They're just about 6 weeks now.

    Rescue trip and logistics

Had a great visit with Holly last night and got to see all the babies:) The little neuro babies are similar to my neuro baby but not as pronounced. They're a little on the smaller side than mine but that's likely a result of their previous home/mom's diet. Now that they have been with Holly they...

    Rescue trip and logistics

Just saw this thread. Had read about all the babies in another thread but hadn't seen this one with all the pictures:) The babies look a lot like my two litters. My Moms are most likely siblings of these moms since they came from the same person. I'm amazed at the ingenuity to figure out...

    Worried about Babies

I moved them on the weekend into a multi-level cage and decided to watch. The neuro girl (whom I'm fairly certain we'll be keeping so we better start thinking of a name), stayed on the bottom level .... for a day. When I saw her on the second level, my heart lurched, but there are cozygloo's and...

Warning-- trouble at the US/Canada border with rats

That must have been incredibly frustrating and stressful. Kudos to all of of you involved and willing to try again:)

    Worried about Babies

An update on everyone. Ataxic baby: Still eating, drink, seems very healthy, just continued balance issues. Doesn't seem to impact ability to eat, nurse, etc. I called Vet office but never heard back. Failure to thrive little one: Passed away today:( He seemed to be improving the last couple...

    Worried about Babies

I asked about antibiotics but he didn't feel it was a good idea. He wanted to do some more research and see how she progressed.

    Worried about Babies

Back from the vet. This is the scoop: Ataxic little one: no signs of infection. Difficulty to know for sure if ear infection, but signs not indicative outside of the balance. Not likely viral. Very possibly neurological. The Vet is going to do some more research and let me know. But...

    Worried about Babies

Thanks:) Will let everyone know what happens. I'll be trying to get them in to Dr. Stewart.

    Worried about Babies

Thanks everyone. I'll call the vet in the morning. I guess the question is, do I only take both moms and both litters? Or just the one with the balance problems from that litter and all the other ones/mom from the other litter or just the 4 with the eye problem?

    Worried about Babies

For those who don't know my back story. I adopted two young females (somewhere b/w 6-8 weeks old). They both delivered surprise pregnancies within a couple weeks of bringing them home. We had separated out the litters and both litters seemed to be doing well except for one failure to thrive pup...

Rehoming a rat or accidental litter? Things to Consider.

With my 18 babies looking for homes, I'm trying out some "strategies" to find them good homes. I included a lot of the suggestions that SQ mentioned. Time will tell how effective this is. This is what I am doing: 1. Created a Facebook page with photos and information. This serves several...

Rehoming a rat or accidental litter? Things to Consider.

This is a great post! A really good summary of everything:) I've been going over all these things with my kids since we've had our two surprise litters. This is valuable life lesson information for kids when being responsible pet owners. You should post it on NB kjiji (If you don't already)...
