New Foster Greyhound Mighty

So we will be getting our first foster on June 12th! It's kinda futher away then I thought but that's ok. Will give us time to adjust after all this hospital business and be ready for the Grey. So excited!

Congrats A little time to prepare is a good thing, and it really will fly by.

Too much excitement!! Moon's so right, time will just fly by, their will be dog feet all over your floors in no time...

Oh for sure. Actually a scrapbook is a good idea. Will be easy to keep track of all our fosters that way. June can't get her soon enough! I kinda wish it was sooner but I guess things always happen for a reason so we'll wait.

I got some more fabric to make up two more dog beds. So we'll have hello kitty for the girl and the dino for the boy and then this cool monkey one for a neutral one on wash day. They're fun to make, I'll probably make the other two soon. Need to make some hammocks first lol

I just got an email and I think we're getting our Grey this Sat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :dance: :dance: :joy: They think they have an emergency case so she wanted to know if we could take in a Grey this weekend of course I said yes lol I'm so excited!

If they do pick them up then we should be picking up the Grey after I'm done work on Sat!

I better make those other two beds in case we get a girl first lol

We should be getting our Grey today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hopefully getting she or he will stop my eye from twitching. It's been twitching for 5 days now.

Getting so excited. Just got confirmation we're picking up the Grey at 8pm!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Still not sure who we're getting but they're going to be tired as they're just getting in from the states today! :dance: Can't wait! We'll have pics up later once she or he settles. :joy:

So we picked up our Foster last night! We have a girl! Her name is Brown sugar! She's a pretty fawn girl. Ang is going to get the pics up today on photobucket so I can post them. We didn't have time to really do it last night where we wanted to get her settled in.

She has to eat only chicken and rice for the first 5 days because on the track they only eat fish and rice. Which has made her teeth a great mess poor girl. After the 5 days we start to slowly add in kibble and take out some rice and chicken. It'll take about 2 weeks or so for her to get on just kibble.

She's really curious but also quite nervous and scared which is normal. She'll kinda flight and go to her crate if we walk by but when we ignore this behaviour she'll come trotting after us to see what we're doing

She did so good last night she didn't make one sound! I'm so impressed. We put on the tv for her really low and a night light because they're used to not being in complete dark and are used to having music on all the time. We're going to get a radio we can plug in for her instead of using the tv.

It's all routine with these Dogs and Deb (the owner of Maritime Greyhound Adoption Program) really has it laid out with a manual to help us along.
She did really good this morning. We can’t talk or look at her for the first 15 min. This is to help her get used to the crate so she knows it’s ok to be in there.
She just laid there and was quiet! Such a good girl!
She’s going to be an amazing walker lol Just taking her out to pee she’ll stay right on my left side. We’ll probably take her for a walk today if it’s not raining.
We have a thin coat for her so I’m going to trace it out so I can make her some fun coats!
For those of you who have facebook we have her pics up there already.
Once Ang is up I’ll get her to put the pictures on photobucket. I didn’t get time to do it this morning before work.
She’s some sweet  Poor girl though has really bad kennel rub on her bum. I have pics to show you what I mean. She also has some bad fluid in her elbow joints from the kennels and I think from running. We have to keep an eye on it but it should go down.
Going to be so fun training her!

Alrighty here are some pictures of our Foster girl She's doing so good! Each day she's getting better and better and trusting us more.
I was so excited when I took her out to pee and she actually went right away! :joy: such a good sign!

She had a great play date with my brothers dog Mandy (black lab). Was quite the experience to get her up the stairs to his house though lol gotta work on that one a little later on. Going down is no problem lol

I made her a coat with little mermaid on it lol I'll get pics of that up later.

We had to change her bed 'cause she had an accident. I felt really bad we didn't get to her in time poor girl. But she finished outside so she'll know that's where she goes.




She loves her knuckle bone! It'll help her teeth a ton, they're such a mess.

Such a sweet looking girl! You are lucky! If I had the time and space I'd love to have a greyhound. As is I really don't so I've been thinking of their smaller counterpart the Whippet. They just look so frail in comparison. Expecting lots of pics

She was trying to be dominant and try to hump Mandy. We stopped her of course lol Poor Mandy didn't like that much but she was good about it.

She's making such good progress! She'll come when called now I'm so impressed! She's also an amazing walker! We had such a great break through last night. Ang had her slippers out which have been out since Brown Sugar got here and last night she went and grabbed one to play with it!
We had to take it from her so she doesn't get a bad habit but traded her for a treat. So today we're going to get her a teddy bear and we have ordered the Tuffy toy Hilda the Hippo.
So great she's coming out of her shell!
