OMGoodness they are so active!! I never expected that they would move around that much!

thanks for this video, it's nice to see what newborn ratties are like without having the stress of caring for a mom and her rittens

Sweet noisy little eepers

Nice to see how Petunia  trusts you with her babies, etc as she has a break and explores

A very lovely family :hugs:

That's a lovely video, we can see mom on the ground being herself.
I love hearing the babies peeping... soooooo sweet!
You did a wonderful thing saving these rats.

While many people strive to be at the top of the heap, if you're a baby rat, you want to be at the BOTTOM of the heap!

Big Fat Second for that last lovely pic!!!

These bubbers are just over a week...they are beautiful.

Maybe you should video how you socialize them and get them desensitized to different handling? I always mean to but never get around to it. I pull tails, pretend to check teeth, put babies on their back, dangle them briefly, pull ears, toes, etc...very gently of course and that's how I end up with these lovely happy babies in the end :D I like doing it especially around this age, because once those eyes open up in less than a week, they are OFF and ZOOMING. I love Petunia's calm sweet demeanour...she looks like a lovely mom.

Thanks for the nomination!
Petunia is definitely a keeper (even if she's going to have chronic teeth problems as I suspect.) She has never once bitten me, even though I'm a stranger and have stuck my hands in with her and her babies. She cringes and tries to avoid me, but hopefully she will come around after a while. I am trying to link incoming hands with positive things like soft stroking and yummy treats.
I don't do any particular socializing with the ratlets. I just love to touch them and hold them. I find them so absolutely irresistible! Here are a couple of videos:

And the little baby dreaming:

I could just watch the babies all night!
