I'm working on getting video uploaded. She won't take anything. No ensure, no cereal, nothing. It just dribbles out of her mouth. Her breathing is still laboured and she is cold to the touch :( I'm so worried. I called the vet they said no openings tomorrow but I'm on the cancellation list. Hard with only one specialty vet around

I've got her on a bean bag (heatable ones) and she's sleeping on that. She really wants to feel my hand on her!

Keep comforting her. Try calling again and specifying that it is an EMERGENCY. I'm so sorry sterling, but something is seriously wrong and she may not even make it till tomorrow...

Where are you located? There may be other vets in that area that someone knows of.

Edit: she's a beautiful girly, by the way....

Thank you she's my original girl. I reiterated it was dyer need basis. There is no other local small animal vets. No one will take her. They tell me its best to keep her comfortable and wait it out cuz bringing her in would just be more stressful and they aren't specialists.

That sucks, I'm sorry. I'm going to keep my fingers, toes, claws, and everything crossed for your little sweetie. Keep her warm, and try offering her some water or ensure every now and then. You should move this thread to the ER section so that more users see it, or at least change the title to something more descriptive of the situation she is in now, since it has changed from the original post.

Poor baby she doesn't look good at all. She almost seems like she is in pain and she is standing funny with her back legs. You really should edit the title of this thread so the more experience people look at it. Healing vibes from us :cuddle:

I continued this thread in ER she saw the vet today and was put on baytril and zythro. Shes perked up a little. Taking meds like a champ!

So I don't know how to change the title. But I just took in two 'boys'. I quote because they don't seem to have been in a super loving situation considering they almost literally dropped them on my doorstep. But they were either neutered or are female. I will try for a better pic but they do not like me just yet.

As well as I have no idea how old they are.

1. You can change the title by editing your very first post

2. Look for nipples - only female rats have them. Need better pics of their *ahem* anatomy. LOL

There are clear nipples! You can see them in the pic there is only one spot on her belly. The others are nipples!
So Sebastian and Moo need new names! They don't respond anyway.

These poor girls. Have been mistaken their whole lives. They have been on a seed diet that was 90% sunflower seed and coloured cereal :wallbang:
In a small guinea pig cage. They were with someone who could not afford them, sold to 2 college girls who then got a notice from their landlord no pets at all. So they are now here with me. 2 lovely girls. One black hood one brown hood. Pics soon when they calm down.
I planned to wait to move them but they barely had any room in their tiny cage so I put them in my white 2 story that my boys just moved out of. (Cleaned don't worry)
They are at least nice chubby healthy girls. (Full grown but age unknown guessing under a year)
So glad I found her kijiji add!

I can only imagine if someone inexperienced got them to put with their boys and didn't think to look. I just noticed how small they seemed for boys and then that they weren't 'showing' and upon closer inspection they were missing parts so I asked if they neutered them and she said 'not that I know of' I nearly rolled my eyes. They asked no questions picking up these 'boys'
So I need new name suggestions for them 'Sebastian' and 'Moo'. I might keep Moomoo but Sebastian needs to change.

I have learned the first thing I do is check the sex of rats when I take them in. When I went to get momma and her babies and 3 other males. It was shocking to find 2 other pregnant girls and one boy... with hamsters I can see how hard it is to sex them but with rats I never could understand it. I didnt need to be taught how to sex rats as I was with the dwarfs we have. I just dont get how you can miss such anatomy on a male rat.

The girls are adorable and I love the name Isis. One of my first girls was Isis. I miss that little crazy girl.
