So about two weeks ago I went to the Guelph Humane Society to see if my friends cat that had been missing for 4 months was there (he was there by the way and was alive and in decent health even after 4 months as a stray) and I made the mistake of entering the adoption room. And as I was checking out a pair of degus that had been surrendered, I see a little pointy whiskered face poke his head out of his wooden house in the cage beside the degus. I read the card and there it was, Remy, rat, male, adult. I took the cage down and opened it, and he came out to see me, I held him even though he was skittish and then saw that he was small and maybe only two and a half to three months old and his big dumbo ears decided right then that I wanted him. So after being in quarantine for a week and a bit at a friends he came home yesterday and we have begun intros. My two boys who I've had since they were a month old are both very docile, I cant really tell which one is alpha since theyre both so laid back, yesterday we tried bath tub intros but all three rats just spent the whole time trying to get out of the bath tub then socializing, so we tried couch intros, which went well. All three rats were out for about forty minutes together before Kiedis got upset that Remy also got a piece of nectarine and tried to steal it from him which resulted in a little scrap some squeaks and the end of intros for the day. Today we tried again, this time on my bed, and there were a few small squeaks and some flank rubbing, but no injuries and in fact I think my older boys are a little bit afraid of this little baby rat... who is half their size mind you. This thread will be used to chronicle the introduction process and Remys growth. But my one question is how long do intros typically take before Remy can be integrated into the big boy cage? That is if things continue to go smoothly?
