I'm curious how much your guys' vets charge for basic procedures.

Office visit: 83.48
Xrays: 82.74
Antibiotics: 15.07
Injections (in this case it was Lasix): 35.67

I'm not sure the exact prices of spaying, neutering, tumor removals, etc. but when I got my Scabbers neutered there about 2 years ago it was close to $300. My vet is sooo expensive. I love them lots, but I might need to find a new one if their prices don't change.

for me so far for what i went for:

Office visit:$29 meds were like $15 with the visit without a visit and you just buy the meds its like $35 for just meds
neuter:$90+tax came to $116 with the meds
Spay:$120
Tumor removal:$80 to $100

I pay £12.50 for a consultation
about another £10 for meds (depending on how much etc.)
and the woman told me today a neuter will be £55.66

Most i've paid so far at a vet visit was £25 which was a consultation, and a 7day course of meds

I spose if it was doubled then it would cost around the same as yours are. Although the exchange rate atm is shocking for us lol (i paid £3.54 for a $4.99 Vent server the other day!!!)

My last vet visit was 66 dollars for my 2 rats including doxy for 10 days :)
I don't think my vet would do a spay on a rat I am not sure. She does not have a lot of experience.

Ktina, I think you should call around and check out other vets.
That's very expensive, especially for the states.

i agree with Mumsy.. would you even pay $83.48 for a dog appointment?!

For a simple office visit/consultation that is really pricy! thats like... £56.63 for me! HOLY MOLY!! No flippin way would i pay anything near that for a small animal consultation!!

Office visit: $67
Spay: $265
Neuter: $160
Tumor removal: $300 - $500
Meds...depends on what and how much. 30mls of Baytril is $70

I'm sure there are vets that might be cheaper in my area but none are exotic specialists like my vet. I don't mind paying those prices, she's worth every penny.

I know :( Sadly there aren't many vets around here that see rats and if they do they aren't knowledgable.

Vet visit: $49 normal rate, $25 rescue rate
Spay: $140 normal, $50 rescue rate
Abdominal neuter: $150 normal, $60 rescue rate
Tail amputation: $700 normal, $125 rescue rate
Tumor removal: prob around $300 normal, $125 rescue rate

I'm so grateful for our vet to give us such good rescue rates, there's no way we could do as much without him. I pay full price for my own rats and I don't mind it actually given how much our vet gives the rescue

US charges here.

Exam $45
Recheck exam $35
Xrays $98
Spays $150
Neuter $130
Tumor removal varies, but we've had anywhere from $150-400
Meds (we have a wonderful compounding pharmacy)......
Baytril (clinic) 20mls $45
Baytril (pharm) 120mls $59 (yeah, you read that right!)

wow. thats really pricey.
i live in a small town, and the vet charges barely anything.
my piggers theo is going to get neutered soon.
im guessing at the most its going to cost 50.00 usd.
probly not even that.

Vet visit is $50 per animal.
Meds varies last visit was bayril and doxy for 2 rats was $66
Spay and neuter are around $400.

Not many vets who treat rats in my area.
Euthinasia is $121

My preferred vets - they work in separate clinics (these vets have a lot of experience with rodents but also treat cats, dogs, birds etc):

All currency in Australian dollars ($1 aussie = $0.87 canadian)

Basic Consult: $45
Spey: $120
Neuter: $65
Tumour removal: $120 - $180.
100 ml bottle of baytril: $120
15 ml doxy: $16 - $19
Other meds: $25 - $45.
Euthanasia $20 - $35.

Exotic vet that specialises in rodents, birds & herps:
Basic consult: $80
20 ml doxy: $35
10 ml azithromycin: $75!!!!!
Surgery: too scared to ask.

With me, my preferred vets are the same or better than the exotic vet which is very fortunate.

The vet I go to for spays and neuters charges $40 for neuters and $75 for spays.....
My vet I go to when they are sick (who is much closer) charges $45 office call.

How do some of you guys do it
Some of those prices are out of this world.
I would never be able to have the number of rats that I have if I had to pay those kind of prices.

Eagle your vet prices are shocking.....euthansia $121. Spay and neuters $400...Holy.

There are two in town that deal in exotics.
Mine
$48 for a check up
$24 (for each rat after that)
$230 for a spay
$160 for a neuter
Meds range in price depending on what she gives me. She only gives me enough to medicate for that one time.

The other one in town who I have not been to yet:
$65 for a check up
15% off for each rat after that
That's all I know.

My Vet:

Exam $45
Re-check FREE
Meds $15-$30 (depending on what and how much)
X-ray $110 but that was including a visit
Eye Removal $350
Neuter $350
Internal Tumor Removal $585

The new vet I found 1hr away!

Spay $175
Neuter $95
This includes meds and an overnight stay!!!
