Hope's Rescued rats, adoptables and lifers- December Update

Thanks to a fantastic donation we have enough to file for the 501c3. I am going to be working on meeting with a lawyer to make sure we are doing everything we need to file

The kittens are here still. 3 are left. Siren the black kitten gave us a scare a dozen times we thought we were losing him but he pulled through and is now a thriving menace.

They have been raised with the rats. They would sleep with our john or any other rat we had out. So they are like little siblings. We cant trust them completely since kittens bite to play and some of our rats love to bite them but we have a few they can be around while we watch them.



He loves laying in hammocks. Maisey will crawl up there and lay with him, she loves to cuddle them.



I set the kitties up with their very own hammock in a cage, I think with all the rats in the house they are very confused cats.



Charlie has found love in Sally. He still tries to bite me but he loves her and that is all that matters. He was a biter and very aggressive even after his neuter but sally has found his softer side. She was given to us by animal control.


We still have the white footed mice they are a riot to watch.

We couldnt make it to our vet office, I tried but this is what I about half way there.


Pip and squeak are now named Fancy and Tango They are being so spoiled it isnt funny.

We have 3 rats with PT, 6 oldies who are looking old and I walked into the rat room and found Jackson sitting on the counter just staring at me LOL I knocked the siding down and he took that moment to escape. Luckily he is a good boy and he knew he was busted We revo'd all the rats today since we found lice on a hammie. Talk about a fun time...

hahaha that little mouse is hilarious! I would probably sit and watch that thing run on the wheel all day and laugh

It's great to hear about Charlie and Sally - even the cranky boys need a little loving...

And I agree; those mice are hysterical to watch!

So glad you were able to raise enough money to file and that when Charlie met Sally it went well =p

Cats in the cage is awesome. I keep threatening to put Al's cat in a cage and let the rats loose... See, it can be done.

I was up there cleaning and had an empty cage, a cn. It had a hammock and nothing else so I tossed them all in there. They just sat there looking at me like I am mad. One went to lay on the hammock and the other two didn't do much. The rats were NOT happy. both cages on the sides of them had rats and they were not fond of their smell. We kept them in the large playpen while they were being fed. and we still put them up in there if we leave for a short periods but they seem to love cages.

My boys don't like when the cat comes aound either, except Clark - he wants to play with her.

The cats and those mice are hilarious. I could watch that video about 15 more times.

I got a call about a rat that was taken to the Evet to euthanize. The current owner wasnt sure what to do with him, went to the only evet in town who doesnt see rats to begin with. They told them it was an ear infection and that it is probably treatable. So they surrendered him, this is when my favorite wild life rescuer who works there stepped in and called me. I was told 10 months old, we figured 10 weeks maybe. luckily the owner contacted me on my rescued rat adoptions facebook cage. A little story I got from the owner was that she found them on cl from a woman who claimed it was an oops litter but said they had tons of babies.

I am assuming this is the listing They also have snakes listed so yet again another trashy breeder.

she said she had them a few weeks that they may be 15 to 16 weeks old by what they said to her. Which is all crap they took these poor babies away from their momma at 3 weeks I can bet and I am just livid.

I was in a meeting for work so I was stuck all day. Luckily shannan one of my helpers around here (mom to zander) ran and grabbed him for me.

So like the ear problem wasnt enough. they were obviously placed in a cage with adult rats and his leg was chewed off of him. So the same story as my sweet little Trey the tripod who is over 2 years old now He is missing his front leg, and it is healed so it has been a few weeks so imagine how small he was being in there with adults. Another reason to be angry.

We started him on meds, lets hope for the best. He is all of 33g which is not very big at all for his age Keep your fingers crossed, he will need all the healing vibes he can get.

What a rough start to his life. I so hope he is able to recover and get absolutely spoiled for the rest of a very long life.

he is thin. I can feel his ribs. Very small boy. I am going to be a wreck with him. but he is on meds and all i can do is hope for the best.

Oh my word! How sweet is that poor baby boy! I can't believe someone allowed them to live that way! Poor little thing.

Oh my lord, Tiny Tim made me cry into my morning cup of tea. What a sweet precious little thing. I too am sending you massive healing vibes. There is hope for this little bundle of joy!

Oh Timmy, you poor little man! Keep taking all those meds, keep eating and drinking, and grow stronger. What a doll. he looks like he's been sick a long time.

I couldnt wait to get home tonight. He was sitting in the corner upright. I picked him up and he started biting my fingers. LOL :ilike:

he seems to be staying more upright today, he walked out of his bag and sat on the couch. He is currently in my shirt to stay warm. I had him in his pouch while I cooked up a dozen scrambled eggs for him and the oldies and I found this.







He was tuckered out after eating. I gave him dose of his baytril and then he was tired. Going to try for some more ensure in a little bit.

Yay! Great news! He so deserves a second chance at life. Sending him tons of healing vibes to pull through. C'mon Tim! We're all pullin for ya, little man.

Woo hoo! Excellent news - I've got such a good feeling about this little fighter. I agree, his name is perfect lol I just wanna tuck him up in my arms and keep him safe forever he's so lovely. I'm excited about future videos and pictures and seeing him restored. Hope - thanks for sharing and giving your all to this little one. You're amazing xx
