Im not sure if this is where i should post this but hopefully someone will know where i would be able to find a vitamin c supplement to give to my rat? The vet recommended that i give her some in her food but im not sure where to look :?

Does anyone know?

Hey-o!

First, why are you supplementing? Normally you do not have to do that, as long as you are feeding a quality lab block and veggies.

Never heard of rats being given vit. C
Is your vet familiar with treating rats?

A good quality lab blocks, daily vegs and a bit of fruit are good.
Sometimes B vits are supplimented with elderly rats, etc.

Rats do not get colds ... if your rat is ill, it likely needs antibiotics.

According to Debbie D. (http://www.ratfanclub.org)
Like most animals, rats can make all the vitamin C they need inside their body. Guinea pigs and primates are the only mammals that must get their vitamin C from food. But extra vitamin C might be good for rats.

As to where ... try the drug store and health food stores ... but I hope your vet told you exactly how much to give. As I mentioned, never heard of anyone giving vit. C to their rats.

Okay so no vitamin C :D

The only reason he thought that she might need some extra vitamin was to help boost her immune system i think

But if it's not nessasary then it saves me money on having to go find some of the dang stuff :panic:

Thanks though!!
