Toe nail fell off

My rats toe nail came off he is bleeding a little I treated it with peroxide and mucerin. How can I prevent any further injury and/or infection? Thanks friends.

I would personally put him in a quarantine cage with fleece laid down instead of bedding so you can change it often and spot clean to ensure fecal matter stays off of it and that he doesn't open the wound again. Just until its nice and healed looking. Watch for signs of inflammation. If it becomes infected he will need antibiotics.

If the nail has come off completely as Pelican advises keep the cage as clean as you can until the wound seals then he will be fine. Watch the toe for extreme redness and/or swelling. In that case he may need salt water baths of his toe and possibly antibiotics.
