My Grandmother now has strep throat and i was wondering if any of my rats can catch it and if they could wouldn't it severely hurt their intricate respiratory system? Please answer might be important.

rats don't catch strep throat from us, they will catch strep pneumonia, but thats a much more serious condtition.

If you are concerned, just don't let your grandmother handle or kiss the rats while she is actively ill.

And she has my sympathies...strep is awful :(

Hope she is better soon, I wouldn't let her handle them for now but it's just to be safe, I doubt they could catch it.

No they cannot get strep from humans because it is incommunicable between species...like lilspaz said you would only have to worry if it was pneumonia
