Sleeping in Food Bowl

Recently my oldest rat Bobby has taken to sleeping in the food bowl on top of his food. I know it's not normal, but he seems fine otherwise. Can anyone offer me some insight?

Many rats do that, so it really isn't abnormal. It may be cooler in the food bowl. Many rats will also sleep in their litter boxes.

What he's doing a little differently is sleeping ON the food. Could he be protecting it from the others? LOL

My thoughts are with eagle as well... might be cooler there.

That would make sense but it's winter over here.

Awe, well I still wouldn't be to concerned.

I'll make sure there is always plenty of food so he has more reason to not lie on top of it all.

Some rats hoard no matter how much you feed them, it's a natural behaviour, so don't beat yourself up. I'm not sure what kind of food you feed but if it's a seed mix it may be that the food is comfy to lie on.
