silly question RE: Martin's paper

I finally ordered a Martin's rat playpen (my rats have been wondering what took me so long!) and it just arrived today and n the box there was wonderful shredded newspaper - would the paper be safe for my rats to play with?

I can't see what would be wrong with it, unless you're worried about toxic inks or something of that nature?

We've bought so many martin's cages... but each time, we would have it at the road before we would remember just how much fun it would be for the rats.

I put some of the shredded paper in their cage this morning and they were have a blast burying themselves in it!
