Hi there !

I just got an adorable pair of brothers :) One is a black berk and the other is either a Siamese or a Himalayan.

He's got a slightly darker marking on his backside/tail area, and then a slightly dark on his nose, but overall he is a beige colour.

When I looked it up, it looked like he is not white enough to be a Himalayan, and that he is probably Siamese, but a lot of people get them mixed up so i thought I'd ask here.

The first two pics are from yesterday, and he is 5 weeks old! The last one is from when he was 3 weeks old.

It really doesn't matter that much, because he is perfect and lovable no matter what colour he is. But I am still curious. :)

I'm guessing siamese, if there's any shading

apparently the Himi's have dark noses and dark tails but are white with no shading on the body

I had two Siamese boys and their coloring was awesome, they got darker and darker the older they got with wonderful shading

but i'm not great on rat colors- I always have to ask someone else myself,
so i'd wait for the opinion of an expert :)

Thanks guys :D I am so excited to watch these little goofballs grow up~ they are so much fun!

EDIT: Here are more pictures of the other baby -- he is so precious too! I love the marking on his belly.

Lovely pictures! Thanks so much for posting. They look really bonded and happy and relaxed at such a young age. So sweet! I rescued four brothers when they were only a couple of months old and although they couldn't more different in personality they have such a closeness. They've never fought once (even for dominance) and take turns cuddling and even groom each other when they've been under the weather!

Himis start off looking like albinos and develop their darker points with age, while Siamese rats begin darker overall and lighten up to develop points. Himalayans and Siamese may be difficult to differentiate once they are adults, but because of their stark contrast in colour/marking development they are very easy to tell apart as youngsters. Baby Himis are frequently mistaken for albinos until their points come in.

Thanks Claireybell :) I'm really happy that they're getting along so well.

Your boys sound hilarious ! It's amazing how much their personalities can vary even at such a young age!

It's so adorable to watch them. Wherever one boy goes, the other follows, and they LOVE sleeping together in the sputnik on the cage ceiling. It's also hilarious to watch them play-fighting each other, and how they don't seem to be afraid of anything. I'll post a video later today to show them off :D

I can't wait to introduce them to my 2 year old boy, too (he seems very interested in them since now their cages are close together and they can see/smell each other, and then when I handle him after handling the babies, he is much lickier than usual). I hope they take to each other right away!

Adorable little smeezer...got the darker colouring, the shading etc...sadly they lose all that glorious colour most times and become very light with darker points.

AAT - So sorry -- I think I was posting at the same time as you and missed your message. Thank you so much - that was really helpful :)

Shelagh - thank you! That is SUCH a cute photo :) and I'm so excited that my little guy is a Siamese, but it's so sad to think that he'll lose his colouring when he gets older, boo :/ Oh well! doesn't matter. he is precious and sweet no matter what colour he is, and so is his brother! :) Is the little Siamese girl the beige one on the far left in your first pic?

yes that is her. :)

Update: Dexter & Orion are getting along well with Felix, and Dexter's colouring is becoming much more apparent. :D It's crazy how much they can change in just 2 weeks. I can remember how small Felix was at that size -- can't believe that was over 2 years ago...

Sorry for the bad pictures -- they are CONSTANTLY moving!
