Wow, that's a decent cage though (so sorry it wasn't what was ordered!). They'll definitely be spoiled in there. In terms of toys and such, to help budget/save a bit more, any cardboard boxes, toilet paper tubes (you can cut these into rings and turn them into balls and other toys), and fleece or non-stringy towels are great. There are a lot of no-sew tutorials for making little corner hammocks and the like, if you have any material to spare, and will save a good chunk of cash in the long term (especially if she's expecting little ones). I wish I could offer more assistance, since I make these things for fun for my gang all the time; but you're quite a ways away from where I am. Using any rat-safe recyclables, old clothes, and fabric remnants will definitely help limit how much you need to dock into your savings.
