All very special to both myself and godmother.

Lois Lee, May 3, 2005 - March 17, 2007 (Hampton girl), died at 22 months
My dear little escape artist and free range rattie.

Jordan, September 2004 - May 2, 2007, pts about 31 months
Everyones kid brother, my sweet little pee boy, and determined nest builder.

Cindy, September 2004 - June 8, 2007, pts about 32 months
A wonderful, determined explorer. Affectionate and willing to share, but on her terms.

Andy, May 3, 2005 - June 15, 2007 (Hampton boy), pts about 25 months
Cuddly playful boy who enjoyed books and couch time with me.

Adam, July 8, 2007 - August 9, 2007, pts 25 months
Like his brothers, a very sweet loving, playful boy who was always ready for adventure.

Lyman, May 3, 2005 - August 27, 2007 (a Hampton boy), died at almost 28 months
A partner in great escapes with Lois. He had a passion for pencils.

Monroe, July 8, 2005 - September 14, 2007, pts at 26 months
A sweet loving boy who was always up for free ranging and adventure.

Jonathan, March 26, 2006 - October 16, 2007 (Byron & Nettie's boy), pts at almost 19 months
A wonderful, loving, curious, energetic gentle alpha who bounced across the couch and through life.
He died due to a tragic accident.

Corrie, December ? 2005 - October 16, 2007, pts at about 22 months
A wonderful, sweet, leg climber, and mother who lived most of her life with godmother.

Noah, July 8, 2005 - December 13, 2007, pts at 29 months
Sweet, loving boy. Quieter than his brothers, he was a deep thinker and great problem solver.

And my godrats, two Hampton girls ... Rhonda (May 4, 2005 - August 30, 2007), & Edith (May 4, 2005 - December 12, 2007)

Why Rats Are Only With Us a Short While

One day, some angels went to God and asked if
they might spend some time on Earth, to learn and perhaps to teach. He answered
that some of the people might be frightened of the angels, that His children's
idea of beauty might not be His own. The angels replied that maybe those who
could look past the differences deserved the blessings that they could give.
But God was still concerned. The angels needed Heaven's air to breathe; they
would suffocate down on Earth. The angels promised to hold their breath as long
as possible, and would return when they could not hold it anymore. God agreed
and sent down the angels.

Many people were frightened of these
creatures, despised them, and tried to kill them in large numbers. However, the
few who recognized the angelic qualities in the beings took them in and
sheltered and fed them. In return, they received more joy and laughter then
they could possibly imagine. But alas, soon the angels could hold their breath
no longer. After just a short Earth time, they left to go back to Heaven. But
they were sure to tell the next group of angels exactly who to seek out when
they went down.

RIP Maggie, AKA Scruffy Mageggers.
Left me at 20 months old with probable pulmonary abscesses. I haven't really had a heart rat yet... Maggie was Mike's heart rat, no one lives up to her and I don't know that he'll ever get over her.

She was our wild adventurer... jumping lady who got in all the tight spaces.

I lost three ratties (aside from SQ's dear ones, who were my "godrats").

Rhonda, May 4, 2005-August 30, 2007, was my first loss. She died of CHF.

Corrie lived such a short life: Nov?/Dec? 2005-October 16, 2007. I miss her terribly; she was my :heart: rat. She died of PT, pts when she suddenly developed severe respiratory distress. Here she is, visiting SQ in Halifax not long before she died.

Edith, May 4, 2005-December 12, 2007, was gradually dying of PT. Then she suddenly took a turn for the worst and was pts. My feisty survivor & incorrigible biter, she was tameable only by SQ!!

I just read about Shelagh's Amelia. then I saw SQ's post in this thread. Now, posting this, I have so many tears. So hard to love little creatures who live nowhere near long enough!

Templeton was my first rat. I got her sept 13, 2006. I think she was a few months old. She died July 19,2007 in my arms. She had really bad myco and the meds that I got for her didn't seem to be helping much. At the end of it she lost a lot of weight. I was calling the vet in a panic because she was gasping for air but there were no vets in at the time to see rats. So I just held her to me and patted her and told her it was ok and I loved her as she kept gasping for breath then passed on. Was horrible. My poor little temples.

I guess I should now add Dolci, my once sooo nervous, almost unhandleable girl who got ill and learned how to love and be loved in return.

and last night was Amelia, with me for a scant 10 days but loved for each and every one of them.

Only original from 2007 I have left is Tootsie. But I now have Popcorn and her 7 babies!
I miss them all though.
