my rat, spookie, tail is sore. i don't know how she hurt herself, but i think she got her tail caught in something. she is licking her tail now and she is making some noises indicating she is in pain. i cleaned her wound, but i don't know what else to do to help her with the healing process. it does not appear to be broken or anything. it just appear to be sore (like a bruise) and some of the skin came off. there is no bleeding, but it looks real sore. what should i do to help her with her tail and keep the wound from being infected before i take her to the vet?

i don't want her tail to die off or anything like that!

thanks!

Do you know if the tail was pinched? If it's just a scrape, it won't necrotize and fall off but if it was a deep pinch then it might.
You could bring her to the vet to get some metacam. I believe some people here give Ibuprofen to their rats. I'm unsure of the dosage though. You could PM lilspaz68 for that.
