Rat went blind on one eye?

Picked up one of my boys to give him his meds today and noticed hes pupil is dilated and blueish. Yesterday it was alright. I don't think it will bother him much. They don't have great vision anyway. I'm just wondering what might have caused this ? He his a brat and is always bothering others and looking for fights so I'm guessing one of his brothers accidentally scratched his eye or something but I'm worried this might be a result of some health condition ? What do you think? Thank you in advanced!

Thank you for replying ! He's my youngest, 1 year and 2 months approximately. Isn't that a little young for cataractes ?

Some cataracts are genetic. Usually they show up after 2 years but some can develop as babies or young adults. I had a 7 month old boy develop them.

No it's pretty harmless. Just make sure that nothing changes over time.

My babies were both affected by genetic cataracts. one is completely blind, the other is blind in one eye. they were only a few weeks old when it started. the vet said everything is fine as long as the eyeballs don’t swell or bulge
