One of my rats, Coco, has recently been making deep, croak-like noises when she breathes. It comes and goes throughout the day, but since she has been with me for 2 years by now, I am a bit worried. Her two younger cagemates, each younger than 1 year, seem to be doing alright. Coco has also seemed a bit less well groomed than usual; red buildup around her eyes is common, and her fur is less smooth. Is there anything beyond getting medication from a vet I could do to help her, apart from keeping the cage clean of course?
