For anyone who may still be watching this post, just wanted to update. We got Molly into an exotic pet specialist (woohoo! my girls are exotic! :giggle: ) and finally got some help. Turns out that a tumble Molly took a few weeks back wasn't the first sign of her problems, it was the cause. He said she had hemorrhaging in her brain and that's what was causing the pressure and all the symptoms. We've got her on anti-inflammatories and he said it looks like it's trying to heal on its own. The next week or two will be key. She'll either heal on her own or she won't.
It's such a relief to know, even with the 50/50 prognosis.
So thanks again to all who offered encouragement. I appreciate it greatly!

Poor little girl :( I'm glad you were able to get her in to see someone who actually knows what they are doing. I hope the drugs help your molly :?

At least now Molly has a chance to heal. I am so happy for you. It feels so good to find out what is wrong with our ratties.

I'm so glad to hear that the vet thinks she will heal! Great for Molly! ^__^ Keep us updated... I have been following the thread but I have been quiet because I don't know anything on the subject, but I'm glad to hear that it isn't PT!

Yay it's not PT! :happydance: Even a 50/50 chance is 100% better than that. And a double blessing to find a good vet. I hope your little girl will heal up completely!

:cry3: For anyone who may still see this:
After a brief bit of strength recovery, Molly rapidly declined. Today she stopped eating altogether. We took her to the new vet and, after much guilt, decided it wasn't right to let her go on if she couldn't even eat. We opted to put her to sleep at the vet instead of wait it out any longer. It still hasn't quite hit me I think, but it really was for the best.
Molly was a sweet sweet girl who loved to climb around and steal food. She loved grooming our faces and was so very very smart. It just broke my heart to see those bright shining eyes dulled and pained.
She's in a happier place now, hoarding everyone's chickpeas and shredding towels into the perfect nest, waiting for the day Binx joins her. :sad3:
Thanks again for helping us through the whole thing.

mollyandbinx'smum, I'm so so sorry :(
My heart goes out to you, especially this being your first rattie loss, and as you & Molly both tried so hard, and hope for her recovery was a such a real possibility. You gave her every chance and she was strong as she could be, and you can be so proud of each other and the love you shared.
She knows what you did for her and felt for her and she's ok.
Kisses to Binx and heartfelt hugs to you.
