My girls šŸ„°

It's a weaning charcuterie board for two very resistant 25 day old weanling wildlings LOL. Fortified duck egg scramble(added veg baby food, heavy whipping cream, baby cereal during cooking), carrot baby food puree, cheerios, soda cracker crumbles, and rolled oats. We will see if the girls touch it šŸ¤£

As of this morning Folklore is 24g and Evermore is 25g! Growing so quickly, I am so proud.

We also no longer do bottles overnight!

"Wild rats are nothing like domestic rats, they carry disease, don't tame, have natural startle reflexes, and are completely different": an exhibit

-Kissie kisses for mama
-Snuggles in my shirt
-Milky lil burritos
-Belly kisses!
-More belly kisses!
-Plastering against the enclosure 24/7 even just to sleep to be closer to humans.

Yup, vicious and nothing like domestics. Totally can confirm.

PM weigh in, day 26- Folklore 28g and Evermore 30g. They each gained 3g in the past 24hrs which is surprisingly right on target for daily gain at this age! Still bitty little ones, but big strides.

We still bottle during the day, but we don't do night bottles anymore, and they always have a big dish with many different solids to choose from, and 2 small dishes of milk to lap out of if desired. They usually don't bother with the lapping dishes during the day but empty them at night so I know it is more of a sooky behaviour to bottle rather than a physical need for bottle over dish.

Folklore and Evermore are doing amazing šŸ˜

Pigmented patches are showing up on yeti skin where new fur is growing up. I thought Folklore was weird from the bottle as she spent most of one day refusing, but she is back on the bottle now. I try to give only about 4 or so bottles a day now, but they constantly have access to a dish of milk and a dish of whatever novel solids I am offering at the time.

Folklore is 36g (first 2 pics curled in hand holding on with her tail ) and Evermore is 39g(second 2 pics of squish belly kiss dangle)! So Evermore should pass 40g tomorrow! Such huge milestones! I have also started working towards planning and getting their big girl cage ready. It is a 3ftx3ftx5ft custom Martin's. Not sure if I will split it to make it smaller or do the whole thing for 2 rats.

Hanging out with these bald girls makes me really want a hairless, lol. I'll miss their soft, hairless lil bellies and rolls.

They're growing like weeds! You've done amazing with them.

I have two hairless girls right now so naturally I have to give you a few warnings just in case, they are prone to dry skin, more scratches than usual, and especially prone to eye issues since they don't have eyelashes to protect them from debris! (my girls aren't true hairless, they have elbow fur, privates fur, and some on their face. I got lucky with them because at least one has eyelashes!)

I probably won't get one unless one around the age of my girls happened to fall into my lap. I'll just put that out into the universe, and see if the universe delivers šŸ¤£
