Saw online people use orange peels mixed with vinegar to clean household stuff. I use just vinegar on the rat cage. You think orange peels would be okay?

Orange oil is used as a solvent/cleaner, so I can see how it may help as a cleaner. As long as the scent doesn't bother the rats, I can't see a problem with it...

I use lemon instead of orange and my guys haven't ever had a problem with it. It does help cut the ammonia smell of the urine.

What about the liver cancer that orange peel oil causes in boys? If you've only got ladyrats, it might not be a problem. For boys, though, you might want to reconsider.

Okay, gotcha. I would just be worried about any residue in the cage. All things within reach of rats are likely to be licked or chewed at least once (with our boys, at least; your mileage may vary).
