Moving question

HIYA! We got these four foot by 1 1/2 foot tubs to pack the rats in so we can move them and they cant CHEW OUT OF THEM.
My question is:

Would drilling several small holes in the lid be enough air for the car ride (8 hours)
or would I need to cut a square out of the lid and replace it with wire mesh?

I think I would go with the mesh, just in case it's not enough. Plus it could get quite hot in with the full lid on.

I agree, do the mesh.

Where in the car will they be? Make sure they have enough food and water in there. Sometimes, water will spill, so put in water, their normal food, and also lots of juicy fruits- grapes, melon, etc.

Second the fruit idea - water may spill and drip but the rats will still have juicy fruits to hydrate with. I always stick some halved grapes in with my boys if we travel.

HI! We decided to do things differently. We ended up needing the tubs we got. O_O' So, we're setting up the babies old cage for the boys, then the girls will go into a 20 long aquarium with mesh lid . Crossing fingers! Four more days!
