Just a quick reminder that a rat train has been set up from Newfoundland to Ontario.
This means that if anyone in a more populated area along this route made arrangements, adoption of needy rescue rats from Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, or New Brunswick would likely be possible.

I realise that other places such as Ontario have a lot of rescues needing homes.
I am bringing this to your attention because we have small populations so very few homes available, no rescues taking in rats and only 3 shelters in the 3 prov.s that will take in rats and experience has shown that in at least 2 of these shelters, rats recieve poor care and are either killed or allowed to suffer and die without any medical attention - even when forum members have donated money for a rat's medical care.

So ... if anyone decides to take a maritime rat listed in the rescue section or elsewhere, there is not much time left to make arrangements.

For everyone else, you have more then enough on your plate and each of us can only do so much.

There are a bunch of adds here for newfoundland - St johns for rats, and baby rats ..all on cedar or pine bedding, some 6 month olds with tumors, eating seed food ..etc ..they really need help!

If anyone is interested, send me a message and I can get a link for you!

Wish I could do more to help... but with three possible litters on the way, my head is already spinning. Haha.

I can imagine Chelle!

I've had these guys since October and 14 rats are too many (We only want to keep 5). Their cages aren't big enough and I can't afford the good rat food for them all anymore. If I can't find homes soon, I'm just going to have to give them to pet stores where they may be sold as feeders. (My husband is starting to get on my case!)
I also have one that started growing a tumour on his neck, it doesn't seem to bother him too much yet but it is growing fast! I'm not going to be able to afford to take him to the vet but I think it would be a fairly simple surgery, I don't know if there are any rat rescue places or maybe a vet that has a soft spot for rats but I would like for him to be taken care of. If no one can help me I'll just have to let him continue on until he starts to suffer.
I've attached an older not great pic, but they are white with kind of siamese markings and white and brown hoodies.
Let me know if you want to come see any,
Thanks,

Beautiful rats, this girl thinks they live to be 12!
