My mom recently got hooked on this Odoban cleaner for mopping floors and cleaning the house. It comes in a big jug for the floor cleaner and a spray bottle for other cleaning. It has a eucalyptis scent and works really well for pet odors. I just wanted to know if it would be safe to use it to clean rat cages.

here's the site for what we have:

If it isn't ok to drink it, then I wouldn't use it on anything for the ratties.
Tho it is important to rinse carefully after washing with anything.

I use a hepa air filter and clean cages frequently to deal with any odor.

I agree with SQ and Jo. It's always suggested to keep perfumes and strong scents away from the rats in general, so cleaning their cage with something like that has the potential to be like being stuck at the perfume counter at the mall. Even with lots of rinsing, the scent can stay fairly strong. Rat's have very sensitive respiratory systems, so something that we can smell can be over powering to them.

Most people use a simple solution of vinegar and water. It cuts the ammonia smell almost immediately and doesn't linger once dry.
