My poor boy Jimi is over 3 years old and has had declining health for a long time now. His back legs stopped functioning a long time ago also.
At this point he is so frail that he can’t clean his back half leading to a build up of urine in his hair in his back legs. How can I help clean him? I’ve always read not to bathe your rats and I don’t want to cause him any stress in the state that he is in.

If he has a build up of urine, I would give him a gentle bath of his lower half only in a sink with some mild baby soap. Run the water on your wrist to make sure it's not too warm for him first. Otherwise, I would simply clean him up twice daily with unscented baby wipes to keep him clean and comfortable, and not too stressed out.

3 years is very old. Clearly he's very loved. 💙
