Hi, everybody! I'm Olivia; I used to have an account on here under 'gawgeouspaws', but since it's been so long I figured I'd start afresh. Pretty much everything you need to know about me is in my profile, but to sum it up I'm a student and aspiring journalist with a passion for writing and, of course, rats! In my spare time (which is rare, considering the toll being a student takes on free time, haha) I'm usually creating characters in a notebook or reading.
I have had ratties before: my two babies, Henrietta and Penelope. Better known as: Henny and Penny. Sadly, as you can see in my signature, they've passed away.
I got them from a feeder tank in a pet store (I know it's always better to rescue, but I wasn't as well-versed when I first got them). At any rate, I don't regret it at all; they were amazing sweethearts. Henny was a black hooded dumbo, and Penny was a brown hooded top-ear. Henny was more content to eat and hang out on my shoulder. Penny was my snuggly, licky, escape artist. She was also the first of my two ladies to go. They both passed away of mammary tumors, as girly-rats so often have to deal with. Penelope's was malignant and Henrietta's was not, just unfortunately large. I know spaying is an option, but there wasn't a vet near us that did it (and I'd prefer not to dwell on it because it might not be the best "introduction material").
After my sweet ladies left me after two years, I started to contemplate maybe rescuing a couple more pocket-puppies. But *sigh*, college is looming very close on the horizon for me, and I would hate to take any rattie in that I would have to leave behind when I went off to school. So, while I 100% intend upon filling the rat-shaped hole in my heart, it won't be for a little while.
I'm here to look upon everyone's adorable ratties, help out any way I can advice-wise (even though I know there's people far more experienced on here :lol, and enjoy the community again! The last time I was on, I met some really amazing people and was given absolutely stellar advice. I hope that this time around is even better! :thankyou:
p.s.: I'll post pictures of my babies when I get the chance; I don't have any on this computer!
