This is my first post here after searching Google and finding comforting info from this site. Sorry, normally I would be more cheerful and post a hello post, but I'm getting right down to business.
My girl was under the sofa and it was time for her to go back, so I moved the sofa back and I heard her crying so I quickly picked up the sofa and moved it back. When she came out from there, I noticed her limping and I finally caught her. It looks like one, POSSIBLY two toes were smashed and although there was not blood dripping actively, I Could see red from the area. I put her back in the cage and let her alone for a few minutes, then I Couldn't stand it so I took her out and examined again. I can't really tell what I'm looking at because she hates being held upside down for inspection - always has. I can see for absolute certain one toe deformed and smashed. There is no active bleeding, and aside from her constant cleaning it, she does not appear in distress. She's in a tissue box in her cage right now chowing down, so that's a positive thing if I know anything about animals.
Is this toe going to fall off? Will she chew it off? What do I need to be looking for in the next couple of days?
I've read numerous stories about rats losing toes in fights and all is well a few days later. I'm hoping this is on that track, but the toe is not gone in her case. I may have some metacam from when my dog's leg was sore a while back but no clue on what dose to give if I have any.
Can someone please give me a play-by-play on this? I feel so bad for her(especially because it's my fault) and I'm trying to keep my emotions out of it but that's hard.
