Has anyone made hammocks out of flannel instead of fleece and if so does it seems to make a difference?

Lots of people make their hammocks out of flannel and cotton. They hold up about the same, I'm not sure if rats chew them any less. But one thing I don't like is that all other fabrics except for fleece will fray so you have to keep an eye out on those strings. I once found my Jorge almost strangled, he had gotten one of those strings around his neck.
