Hair Pulling

I've noticed some patches of missing hair on both of my rats. As they often play rough i assumed they were doing it to each other.

Is this normal behavior for 2 girls? They've been together for at least a month now and it still happens on an almost daily basis.

What do you all think my best course of action would be?

I would check for scabs on their bodies, in case it's mites.

I have, all i've seen is the dark spots of their skin (or pink in my pew's case) where the hair should be.

Do you see them barbering?

Ya but they always seem quite rough with eachother one of them will squeak every time i see them grooming the other..

Squeaking is normal, doesn't mean they are upset.

okay well maybe they'll be nicer with the grooming, my pew looks silly with missing hair :giggle:

lol... there was a member here that had one of her rat barber the whole top of the head of the other one. Looked so funny.
