Getting them used to me

Well I'm sitting in the tub with Jinx and Eve trying to get them used to me.Eve keeps coming over but Jinx is staying away.

Why not put on two shirts, the top one being loose, and put the ratties on you, between the two shirts.
That way they will get used to you and your smell and will also feel reasonably safe.

(The bathtub is usually used for intros between unfamiliar rats.)

So i could lay down in a safe area where i could keep my cats out and let them climb all over me and in and out of my sweater. Plus its the only area that doesnt smell like my cats.

 

The bathtub is a lovely place to let them warm up to you! I sit in the bath with my new girlies while I do my homework. First I lay down a towel, and then I shove some towels in next to me under my arms (for my own personal comfort, this isn't neccesary). The first time I did it, the girls ran around, squirming behind me and leaving little poos everywhere. In the end they thoroughly tuckered themselves out. Eventually they snuggled into a fold of one of the towels I had with me and started to snooze. So I tend to like the bathtub, but I haven't yet tried the t-shirt/sweatshirt method that SQ recommended (I've heard it works wonders). If you want you could even bring their favorite treat into the tub with you and periodically give little hand outs. That way they'll associate you with fun play time in the bath, snuggles, and above all FOOD. :wink2:

It went amazing, my girls were wonderful. Im crying im ssssooo happy.
