Fancy rats

I have a hard time with this term. I swear it was invented just to make people less afraid of pet rats. When I hear it I always picture this

Except that picture is missing the monocle...... :stickpoke:


Rats are standard ear, dumbo, rex, there are plenty of names. The only time people use fancy is in the pet stores, it is right up there in my rat jargon with Jumbo, medium and small rats......I just hate the term fancy.

I hate it too....it is weird...a fancy rat, compared to what a plain rat, river rat, sewer rat. LOl love the squirrel...now that is fancy.

LOL, too funny! I never could relate to that term. My girls are New Brunswickers, and we rarely dress up fancy.

They're called fancy because fancy has another definition; to 'like' something.
Ie, 'I fancy those rats' can be 'I really like those rats/I admire those rats' etc. But the term is confusing, and sometimes hard to explain to people, haha.
