Eating the YN

My rats are eating the yesterday's news from the litterboxes. How can i stop this?? Is it safe to eat?

All mine at some point or another will do it. There is an interesting article where is says rats will eat non food items to settle their stomachs.

Patch eats it too. I'm glad it's safe to eat. I was getting worried. XD

And chances are very good that they're not actually ingesting it, but just chewing it.

They've stopped eating it, and now every poop is in there! :happydance: When I used aspen, they didn't do that. Wonder why?

When I bought YN for the first time I made it a point to call the number on the bag and ask a sales rep if it would be harmful to the ratties in any way. They told me it wouldn't and soon, just like yours, they lost interest in trying to eat it.

Yep, mine don't even nibble at it anymore...I think I'm in love with this litter! :bow:

I definitely love it. I just use a fine sifter to remove the dust that gathers at the bottom of the litterpan once or twice a week. It holds up great and puffs up when they pee on it so I know to pick it out.
