Eating own Poop?

Tonight I found Millhouse eating a piece of poop for the first time. I have never seen any of my past or present rats do this.

I have heard that's how they recycle nutrients, but what has your vet told you about this?

Any ideas? Maybe he was just extra hungry? LoL.

I have heard the same things you have ( nutrient recycling) but have not witnessed any of mine doing that.

Yep, this is very natural and there are a few animals who do that, it's called coprophagia.

LOL, maybe ask them to gargle with Listerine first??!

I operate on the belief that what I don't know won't hurt me. I must admit that if I saw one chowing down on a rat raisin I would not encourage him or her to come over to lick me. :sick2:

I also use the "what I don't know wont hurt me" philosophy, unless I witness something unsavory. I have two aspiring "rodentists" lol

Now that I saw him do it once, I see them both do it way more often now. LoL.
