DIY rat trees

You know how they have cat trees?.... I'm thinking about making a miniature version for my ratties and their playroom. Anyone else ever made one of these?

I've made one for our cats. The main concerns I would have are smell. They are going to pee on the carpeting and if there is wood underneath you can't clean it. You can make a tree out of PVC though. My rats love the full size cat trees we have. There are also ones made for ferrets that might work.

That's an awesome idea! Although I agree you would have to find a way to make it washable so it doesn't get all stinky. I did find this link where it seems like a lot of people have just wrapped tubing around various bases to create an awesome playground. Although I'm not sure how easy to clean that would be.

I forgot about the smell.... Hmmmmm.... Now I need to put some more thought into this.... Maybe plexi glass and PVC instead of wood... And instead of stapling or glueing any carpet down I just clip it so it's easy to remove....
