:new:
I joined this forum for the sole purpose of giving people insight on the fact that Ashley has not quit and is still pumping out babies of rats and mice.
To give a little backstory, here is my experience with her.
When I first saw her, I thought she was amazing and great, bragging about her. After talking to her about her rats, she invited me to This monstrous group and me being me, posted about my Local reptile store. I said that they took good care of their rats, making sure they're not too overcrouded, making sure they don't suffer (When one gets sick, they try to feed them off since they can't afford vet care for feeders), and that their rats come from a good, diverse line to ensure good health. I feel that I should mention they people where I live say "They even take good care of their crickets!" and that you can hold pretty much any reptile there since they're usually held from birth in the store to ensure the best quality pets. Anyways, I said that if anyone could afford it and wanted a good quality rat for sure, they should buy from her. Oh boy, was that EVER a mistake. People lashed out at me, claiming that I was "comparing her rats to feeder rats". I never posted in the group again, but stayed to observe what was happening. I tried to search for better, perhaps nicer breeders in hamilton, and I found the truth about Ashley. Discusted, I refrained from ever even thinking about buying rats from her, but I still kept her as a contact and I never left the group. I felt I needed to keep an 'eye' on her. Recently, I realised alot of people think she quit, which is not the case. I'm going to show you guys some stuff about her recent activity and the group.
When I first joined the group, it was pretty much only filled with people who bred rats for pets, which soon changed. Now theres ads for the sales of tub breeding racks, Labratory-style stainless steel breeding racks, reptile sales, hairless breeder rats and a few people who either want their rats to go to a good home or are selling extra cages. The group is oozing feeder-breeders and misinformed owners who learn the wrong things. It's sort of toxic and hurts to look at.
Now, for Ashley, from what I know she now breeds Fancy Mice, Spiny Mice, and Degus.
In terms of rats, she breeds plenty of risky varieties, such as:
- Dwarfs: Health issues related to the breeder RRLM mass-producing them.
- Harleys: Known to have mastitis, sensitivities to protein, minor skin issues, and hormonal problems involving the males.
- Merles & Pearls: Pearl is a homozygous lethal gene often paired up with Merle, which is exactly what she does.
- Silvermanes: known for having problems with genetic hormonal issues.
- Various blue varieties: Known for their unstable health and sometimes behavior due to mass-production.
- Satins: Known for having respiratory issues.
- High Whites: Higher risk of megacolon.
- Head Markings: Associated with High-whites.
- Down-Unders: Known to be homozygous lethal.
And then list goes on, and on, and on...
Her pictures on her rattery facebook page are pitiful, with some being (with the dates in no exact order) horrendous in terms of breeding ethics. If you plan on calling her out, I suggest you have one account for 'spying' and another to call her out, so you can keep an eye on her.
