Has anyone noticed the apple stick chews they have in the petshop? Are these just pieces of apple tree or are the something special?I have lots of apples trees growing wild back of my house.

I believe that they are branches of apple trees.

Can't you boil the wood to make it parasite free?
Twigs, branches or wood from fruit tree's are the only type you should give to animals. Any other tree's aren't advised. At college every year our animal technician cuts back the fruit tree in her garden and we make 'ramps' and perches out of the branches in the large rat, chipmunk and degu cages we have.

If you are sure they don't have pesticides on them etc.
perhaps they could be baked to sterilize them.
