Aw, they are beautiful! What exactly does high white mean? I've heard about megacolon- but I've never quite understood high white.

High white, as in the babies tend to have a lot of white in their fur. For some reason, rats that have high white markings are a lot more prone to megacolon :sad3: I hope they all stay healthy and happy. They're beautiful babies.

Ohhhhh boy. There are a couple of babies there who look really under-developed, two in particular who look disturbingly tiny. Hope they're just wee runts and not MC babies :(

Basically, high white rats have white in places were you wouldn't normally expect to find it.
Such as a blaze.
In Europe, etc these types of marking come from genes that are not associated with the genes causing megacolon.
In North America, high white marking are usually associated with genes causing early or late onset megacolon.
Rats do not have to have high white markings in order to have early or late onset megacolon.

If anyone would like more information please see the facebook group for Maritime Rat Rescue Group or email the woman who has them at: [email protected]

I will no longer be trying to update this thread due to the complete lack of information.

I sincerely hope these babies will all be ok and that they and their mama will all find good homes.
