I was looking through YouTube and came across this video. His rats live like that, no closed cages. Amazing!

so want my own house now... that was nuts! can you imagine having to clean all that...? but dear lord that was so awsome too! i'm never showing my crew, i'd never hear the end of it... "mooOOooOooOoommmm... they have it, why can't we?? all the other rats will make fun of us if we don't have that... come on! moooooommm... plleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease!"

Hmmmmm, Leah's sons are 17 months old and since about 8 weeks of age, have clearly let me know that they want/need a three bedroom home with a nice staircase to bounce up and down ....
Guess they'll have to ask Santa again this year :)

that's amazing, but I think even if I did have all that space, my rats would just use one cage mainly. All of the rats I've had have felt really secure in their cage, and have not wanted to come out. Once they're out they run around though.

Sorry couldn't do it. Too much of a worry wart. I would worry about someone falling and getting hurt, getting stepped on, someone getting sick an not being able to find them. Not to mention the damage they can do and the fact that they could pee down the walls and all over the carpet. I just couldn't do it.
