    Sad Update

You're totally fine, I tend to ramble too so I completely relate, haha. And I appreciate the info. : ) I was asking mostly out of curiosity. I totally get you about the breeder thing. I'm pretty paranoid about that in general nowadays, since sadly you find a lot of cases of that with many...

Rats getting in the way of homework

So cute! My eldest rat Lexi used to love to sit on my shoulders and slide down my back. Hahaha, she was a goofball.

    Sad Update

Thank you both very much for your replies. They were all sweet angels and I'm so grateful for the happiness they brought to my life. I'm a lonely person, and these girls were the best company I could have ever asked for. They were always so excited to see me and come out and play. :) Before them...

    Sad Update

(I realized shortly after that I posted this in the wrong section. Sorry about that.) Hi everyone, I know I haven't posted anything in a while now. But it's been a tough while since I last posted. I sadly had to say goodbye to not only Lexi, but also my other two girls shortly after to various...

    Cute little munchkin

Look at that cute little face. Kiri is certainly back to her old self.

    Sad news.

Yeah. Poor sweet girl. I'll definitely do what's best for her when the time comes. As for right now, she's still quite active and has a good appetite, and doesn't seem to be slowing down just yet. She enjoyed some juicy strawberries with me tonight, and had some fun digging for treats with her...

    Sad news.

It's on her belly, and I believe it's internal. Originally I thought it might have been an infection, since it looked just looked like her belly was swollen, but upon more investigating, and having my vet take a look, we confirmed it to be a tumor. It takes up a good chunk of her belly, right...

    Farewell my sweet boy

Awww. I'm so sorry for your loss. What a sweet little boy. Please don't feel bad. It's so easy to blame yourself when things like this happen. I can tell he loved you, and he knew you loved him too, that's why he wanted to be so close to you.

    Sad news.

So unfortunately, after taking my sweet Lexi to the vet the other day, she's been diagnosed with a cancerous tumor. Since she's well on her way to three now, and showing her age, the vet felt surgery would definitely be too hard on her now, and so she's been put on some Metacam, and some Baytril...

    Hello!

Hello! I've been meaning to introduce myself and my babies for a while now, and finally I have some time to do so! : D Haha, so I first got into Rats I'd say almost three years ago now. I started with a pair of feeder rats that I named Lexi and Pippin. I had the two of them for about two years...

    Question about bedding

That's what I thought! It certainly doesn't seem like it'd be very comfy. But yeah, I do the same for my girls, and they always seemed to catch on fast. :)

    Question about bedding

So as far as I can remember I've had my girls on fleece liners, and recently started sewing them with uhaul pads which I find work wonderful. And while I don't see myself really making a switch, I was curious about something. I've noticed a lot of people lining their cages with bedding like...

Rat has bad URI. Any advice is appreciated

Thank you both so much. Sorry I haven't posted an update sooner, life got off and on busy for a bit there. But I am pleased to let you all know little Kiri is feeling so much better. She's put weight on again, is eating and drinking regularly, moving about, and just all around seems like she's...

Rat has bad URI. Any advice is appreciated

Awesome. Thank you for confirming with me. One thing I wanted to confirm though, is it safe to give them both around the same time? Or should there be some kind of time window between them both? Thanks so much, and I will keep you all updated on how she's doing. :)

Rat has bad URI. Any advice is appreciated

Okay. So she's been on 25mg/ml Baytril. And I was told to give her 0.18 ml twice daily. And as for the doxy, 5mg and 0.3 ml twice daily. Anything off with the dosage? This is my first time treating this sort of thing so I really appreciate your help. vuv

Rat has bad URI. Any advice is appreciated

Yeah, I rushed her to our vet as soon as I could get her in, as she wasn't eating or drinking at all, and wouldn't even leave her hammock. She's honestly tiny, she only weighed in at 280g. Since she started the baytril she's started eating and moving again, so I've been trying to fatten her up...

    Respiratory Infection/Treatment?

Of course! One of my little girls is battling a URI herself right now, so I totally understand how you feel. All the love to you and your little boy, and I hope you can get him on the road to recovery soon. : )
